The staff are so kind and helpful-no matter if you are driving up to check-in (Dave is right there to help with a smile), or if you are going over to the Palm to eat (Amanda was so nice both times yesterday. It was great to see her cheerful smile again even after being there all day). The rooms are beautiful, the ocean sound and view is great. We loved the personal touch from the text messages to asking us how we were during our stay! This will definitely be our go-to resort when staying at Myrtle Beach.

My husband and I had a wonderful stay at The Shelby in Myrtle Beach and an amazing dining experience at The Pebbles restaurant, which is connected to the hotel. From start to finish, everything exceeded our expectations.
The hospitality was truly outstanding. Dave the doorman greeted us with warmth every day and made us feel right at home. Brad and Sharon, the hotel hosts who checked us in and out, were professional, friendly, and welcoming. It was such a pleasure learning that Brad is also from our hometown in Maryland—it made the experience even more personal.
Jay, the head housekeeper, along with Varnette in housekeeping, ensured everything was clean, comfortable, and well cared for throughout our stay. Jose in maintenance was also wonderful and attentive. Every staff member went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and happy.
The Pebbles restaurant was just as impressive. The food was absolutely delicious, and the service was excellent—especially from Amanda and Anna. The head chef, David, truly knows his craft, and every meal was prepared with care and flavor.
Because of the exceptional hospitality, delicious food, and welcoming atmosphere, my husband and I had an awesome time and are already excited about returning. We highly recommend The Shelby and The Pebbles restaurant to anyone visiting Myrtle Beach.

Booked this stay using loyalty points, expecting it to be fully covered. Instead, I was charged a mandatory resort fee. While the hotel is on the beach, it does not feel like a true resort, and the fee mainly covers basic amenities that are normally included.
I’ve stayed at real resorts internationally and never experienced this on award stays. The charge feels misleading and unnecessary, and it seriously detracts from the value of using points.

We had a fantastic stay here! The hotel is newly renovated, inside and out, and it’s been very well done. The fittings in the rooms are thoughtful, and unique. It really feels like a beach stay. But who am I kidding? Can you SEE that view from our room???? That’s what we came here for! The hotel is built to maximise the views and someone’s clearly thought very hard about how to provide the largest number of rooms with the spectacular ocean view.
We were travelling with our doggo and we had a room on the first floor, near the exit. There’s a dog walk area across the road and plenty of local establishments welcome pets. So it’s very easy to have a relaxing vacay with your furry family members.
The room was very clean and well appointed. We went for a drive and flop holiday so we spent a bit of time in the room and on the balcony and it was super cosy. It was spacious and the sofa was huge. The bathroom was lovely.
We didn’t try the pool or lazy river but they looked like a lot of fun and were very clean.
There’s ample parking, reserved for hotel guests, which is always good in a busy spot like Myrtle Beach.
Special shout out to Sharon F at the front desk who welcomed us and helped us all settle in when we arrived on Christmas Eve! Can’t wait to come back to Myrtle Beach and will be staying at the Shelby again for sure.

David, our waiter on Day 1, was by far the best service experience we had in all of Myrtle Beach.
Today, we also want to highlight the overall experience at The Shelby, and specifically its restaurant, Pebble & Palm.
From the moment we arrived, the greeting set the tone—warm, professional, and intentional. David’s all-black cookware scrubs were a standout: clean, smooth, and regal. That look fits the space perfectly and honestly should be the standard—it elevates the entire dining experience.
David was well-educated on the menu, confident in his recommendations, and excellent at natural banter. What truly impressed us, though, was his awareness—our coffee and water were always refilled without us ever needing to ask. That level of attentiveness is rare and speaks volumes.
Thank you, David. Always wear that outfit—you look great in it, and you make the restaurant look even better.
You represented Pebble & Palm and The Shelby exceptionally well.
We’ll absolutely be back. The hotel was also nice and they are pet friendly.
Additional note (Dec 27, 2025 – morning shift):
The female staff member working that morning appears to be very new and still learning. There were several service gaps—water and coffee were not refilled, the voucher wasn’t noticed, and utensils weren’t brought to the table, which required us to get them ourselves.
That said, we still chose to leave 5 stars because David truly set the standard and delivered an exceptional experience. We’d strongly encourage continued training and mentorship—specifically shadowing David, as his attentiveness, awareness, and flow are exactly what elevate service at Pebble & Palm within The Shelby.
Everyone starts somewhere. With guidance and observation, there’s clear room for growth.
— Respectfully shared, with appreciation for great service done right.
