Historical Landmark
The Hilton Head Island Rear Range Lighthouse, also known as the Leamington Lighthouse, is located in the Leamington neighborhood of Palmetto Dunes Resort overlooking the Arthur Hills Golf Course. It was built between 1879 and 1880 as part of a larger system of navigation lights guiding ships to Port Royal Sound. Featured on the National Register of Historic Places and part of the Inventory of Historic Light Stations, the lighthouse occupies a unique place in Hilton Head Island history. Today, only the 92-foot structure survives, along with a vintage brick oil house and a water cistern located on site alongside the oldest living oak tree on Hilton Head Island.

We had reservations for a group of 10 for Thanksgiving Dinner. They seated us outside. It was cold, they said they would put a heater close to our table. It was placed out side of our outside table. Service from our waitress was not very good. I had to asked about my ice tea 3 times before it finally arrived. We placed our orders. My food was COLD. I asked for over easy eggs, I received over med close to over hard had to use knife to cut the link sausage. Pancakes may be acceptable if served hot....I would have been pleased if they were warm no such luck cold like the rest of my meal. Spoke with others same issues cold food. I would not recommend LULU in Hilton Head. Shining star was Abbi who stepped in to get us drinks and served as our waitresses disappeared for extended periods of time.

Beautiful old area. Not a whole lot to see but the historical aspect is great. Old trees and great history still kept around.

This lighthouse is not easy to get to. When you map it it will take you to leaming community gate but they will send you to Palmetto Dunes and just follow until you see a gate and just let them know you want to see the lighthouse. They will gave you a entry pass then, they will send you to drive all the way towards Leaming Community. You will pass Omni Resort and just keep going until you get to the next gate. Will let you in. The Range will be on your left. There is no designated parking area you have to park along the road.
