I had a very concerning experience checking into this hotel. I arrived after dark following a late flight and found no one at the front desk. There was no signage, bell, or phone number to contact staff. I used the emergency phone outside to call the lobby and called the hotel number multiple times from my phone. I was only able to get inside the hotel because another guest happened to enter and used their key card.
Once inside, the lobby was completely empty. I waited for an extended period of time and no staff ever appeared. The front office door was unlocked, with guest room keys, personal belongings, computers left on, Amazon packages, and items for sale sitting out in the open. The kitchen area was also empty.
This felt extremely unsafe and unprofessional. Not only was there no assistance available for guests arriving late, but the lack of basic security was alarming. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone arriving after hours or expecting standard front desk service.
I am now staying at the Holiday Inn Express approximately three miles away due to the lack of staff and security.
UPDATE: The hotel’s response claiming I did not have a confirmation is incorrect. I did, in fact, have a confirmed reservation. My confirmation number was #3421506898, and I received the confirmation message stating: “See you soon, your reservation for Feb-06-2026 has been confirmed.” The lack of staff and security upon arrival had nothing to do with my reservation status.
UPDATE: The Holiday Inn is amazing. Spacious rooms, high-end amenities including Dove bath products, and extremely safe and clean. Do yourself a favor and skip the Hilton.

I stayed at this Hilton Garden Inn for an entire week for work, and unfortunately it was a very frustrating and concerning experience.
The entire hotel is under construction, which significantly impacts the stay. The front entrance is not accessible for bringing in luggage, so guests are required to park in the garage underneath the hotel and use the elevators to reach their rooms. These elevators were in extremely poor condition and felt unsafe. They appeared on the verge of breaking down, had walls covered in moving blankets, and the buttons barely worked—you had to press them repeatedly just to select a floor or close the doors. They desperately need to be replaced.
Parking was another issue. Many of the already limited guest parking spaces were taken by construction workers staying at the hotel. In addition, there was frequent marijuana smoking in the garage, which was unpleasant and inappropriate for a hotel environment.
During the stay, I also received a notice that hotel staff would be entering my room during the day to apply varnish to the furniture and that there would be a slight smell. When I returned, my room smelled like nail polish, which was unpleasant after a long workday.
Hotel staff were also not very responsive. I attempted to call the front desk multiple times and struggled to get through, finally reaching someone only after repeated attempts.
One night, there were two dogs barking incessantly. I waited before calling the front desk to give the situation time to resolve, but when I finally did call, I was told that the owner was coming back. The staff member also made a point to remind me that quiet hours didn’t begin until 9 p.m., which felt dismissive given the prolonged and disruptive noise and the fact that it was after 8 p.m.
The most serious concern was safety. On my last day, while taking my belongings to my car before checkout, a construction worker asked me if I had left a side door open. He explained that workers have been propping it open so they can go up and down the stairs without walking around. This means anyone could access the stairwells and hotel hallways. This is a major security issue and completely unacceptable.
Between the construction disruptions, unsafe elevators, parking and smoking issues, lack of staff responsiveness, noise disturbances, and serious security concerns, this hotel did not meet basic expectations for comfort or safety. I would not recommend staying here until construction is completed and these issues are properly addressed.

This HGI is in the final stages of a major decor change/renovation. They are still working on the 1st floor and the restaurant and bar area is almost done. My major issue was finding the hotel in the dark as there is NO signage or lighting when coming in from the West (driving east on HWY 278). Coming from the West and driving East, then turning onto Moss Creek, it took me 15 minutes and 2 UTurns to get back onto 278 Westbound, only to see the hotel back in the woods. ( The signage going West on 278 across the bridge from Hilton Head is lit and noticeable.) When turning left into Moss Creek from 278 East (coming from the West/Bluffton), it is extremely dark and unlit. My GPS kept telling me to turn right onto Moss Creek Rd (just before the entrance to a gated community) but the road was so dark and convoluted, it appeared to be a dead end.... again, absolutely NO signage pointing the way to the hotel. We got to the Circle K, bought some water and realized the narrow road went behind the Circle K to the HGI.
Once I was able to navigate the area in the daylight, it is a good location although you hear the highway noise if you are on the front side of the hotel . HGI needs to install signage at Moss Creek Rd, the turn in right before the gated community and near the Circle K.

Nice place! Under construction now but worth the price!
