I have never once left a review for a hotel, but feel compelled to do so for the Graduate so others can make informed decisions before booking. The front desk staffer was pleasant (so sweet!!) however she was literally the only person working and that’s unfair to her. She needs more support from management. When I got to the room, I was hit with unbearable heat. I started studying the thermostat and it wouldn’t budge. I called guest services (which I learned later was the overworked front desk staffer) and asked what I could do to make the room cooler. She let me know that since the hotel is so old they only have one option - either heat or AC. Since it’s November, it’s heat. She told me I could open the window and she would send up a fan. The fan never came after I asked 3 separate times. Finally, after we got back from dinner and found that the fan hadn’t come while we were out my husband went down and got the fan himself. He asked if we could change rooms, but she couldn’t do it without a manager. Even with the window open all night (it’s was in the 30’s!) and the fan going the temperature in the room went down 2 degrees from 75 to 73. I’m thankful I travel with earplugs, but even with them I could still hear the typical noise from downtown Providence. It was not a restful night to say the least. The architecture and decor in the hotel is cool and fun to see, however the basics of temperature and comfort far outweigh those elements. Hilton needs to seriously work on the basics, update this property and look at how they staff. I’d suggest they send some Hilton executives to stay here and experience it as a guest.

We stayed for 2 nights at The Graduate Providence and overall we were underwhelmed by the experience. We were attending a family wedding in the city and this is also where the pre ceremony photos and prep were taking place. We rented a suite with a large bedroom and a living room area separated by a glass door. The bedroom itself was nice, clean and well laid out. The living room area clearly hadn’t been cleaned between guests. There were coffee stirrers and a woman’s hair scrunchy on the floor and the couch and floor were covered in crumbs. Also the only soap was in the shower in a locked container so there was nothing to wash your hands with in the bathroom. The room showed its age with pealing paint. We’ve stayed at Hilton’s before and this is the first issue we’ve had.

This place is beautiful, the staff at the front desk was super helpful and nice. Only came in to see what the lobby looked like as we heard it was a haunted hotel! Would love to spend the night but currently cannot as were low on funds, maybe one day

Checked in for a wedding at the library which is not too far away but being from out of town we requested transportation. Called for a cab as recommended by the hotel and told there weren’t any cabs available. Also, most staff was unfamiliar where the library was located. It’s literally a few blocks away but they seemed confused and also unsure about the wedding we were attending despite rooms and a bus reserved by the hosts. They were rude and unhelpful with any requests and it’s appalling that they seemingly just didn’t care which prompted me to write this. The rooms aren’t bad but don’t expect any hotel hospitality.

I would not classify this hotel as “upscale or luxury.” It is a very old building and we were told that it is a two pipe system so either AC or heat. Since it is fall, heat was the only option. When I arrived to my room it was 81. They told me to Turn the fan off and open the window. Well, the window opens about 5 inches, has no screen, and allows the extremely loud sounds of downtown come into the room. The first night it got up to 86 in the room with the loud sounds of people outside, music blaring from cars, and street racing. I called the front desk and was told they had no fans and maintenance would look in the morning. The next night I was able to get a fan which did help slightly (room got to 79). I understand this is an old building but for how much they are charging per night this feels unacceptable. Additionally, I wouldn’t want to have the heat blowing air because look at all the dust in the vents (see image). Also, there are not enough outlets in the room so if you have multiple devices needing charging you need to strategically space them out. Overall, I would not stay here again and was very disappointed by this experience.
