My husband, son and I stayed in a beach cottage in mid-October. Overall, everything was fine but just didn’t seem worth over $2k per night. A lot of the reviews for this property are fake because they make remarks about a pool or hallways and the hotel doesn’t really have either of those? Anyway…
First, we didn’t receive instructions at check in where to find our cottage/ room, and our room number was facing the beach so it was difficult to find. In the process of searching, we got shouted at by housekeeping because we accidentally walked into someone else’s patio area.
The room itself was teeny tiny! I would certainly still feel this way even if it were just the two of us. Overall it felt dated and some of the products definitely need to be refreshed. For a hotel of this caliber I at least expect a good hair dryer and not one from a drugstore for $20. We did like the bed though, it was comfy and there were delicious cookies as a welcome treat.
In terms of fitness area, they do have an outdoor gym which we couldn’t use because of the weather and they offered to bring some light weights to our room. If you want to use an actual gym, they partner with the Tennis Hall of Fame but the gym there was not good at all surprisingly.
Lastly for food on the property - it was all really good quality! They have complimentary tea service every afternoon which includes tea and delicious tea snacks. We also dined at Aurelia for dinner which was great - we found it to be one of the better restaurants in Newport. Service was amazing, and they took time to explain everything (special shout out to Carl who was the MVP). Breakfast (included in the rate) was also very good and high quality. The only downfall here is that we constantly had dust falling on us and our food from the ceiling fans. Truly bizarre and made the entire experience worse.
All in all, I’d maybe give this hotel another shot if I have to be in Newport again but I wouldn’t go out of my way to come here.

[This is strictly for the restaurant!] WOW. 100/10. Go for sunset!! This is a must-see dinner spot if you are venturing to Newport area. Food, view and service were all an absolute 10/10. Cannot wait to go back another time. We went early/mid Oct so it wasn’t as crowded as it likely is in peak season but we still got there early (before 530) to get a good window seat in the dining area. The clam chowder was the best I’ve had to date. My husband ordered the duck and I’m not a big duck person but it was delicious. I also loved my turkey sandwich. And our waiter was incredibly attentive and kind.
