To Fellow Truck Drivers:
I want to start by clarifying the location and truck accessibility, as this is often misunderstood. The hotel is truck accessible. It is certainly easier if you are bobtail, but even with a truck and trailer it is manageable with some care. You can turn left at the Royal Farms and then right into the rear portion of the parking lot behind the building, near Cracker Barrel. Depending on hotel capacity, a truck and trailer can fit back there. When exiting the property, be cautious making the right turn and watch the light pole. After that, make the final right past the first stop sign. Traffic near Royal Farms can affect maneuvering, but overall, access is doable if you take your time.
Now, onto the hotel itself.
Check-in was smooth and pleasant. Tanisha at the front desk was excellent , friendly, efficient, and genuinely welcoming. That level of hospitality made a strong first impression and is the primary reason this stay earned three stars.
Unfortunately, the remainder of the experience did not reflect the price point. At approximately $184 per night for a Friday through Sunday stay, the value simply was not there. The carpets were visibly dirty with crumbs throughout the room. Based on the overall condition and service level, these rooms should be priced closer to the $100 range. I have stayed at Home2 Suites before and expected a comparable experience, which this property did not deliver.
The first room assigned to us on the third floor had a strong cigarette odor coming through the bathroom vents. As a former smoker, I could tolerate it, but my girlfriend was arriving from Florida and I wanted the stay to be comfortable for both of us. The front desk was accommodating and moved us to a top-floor room. While that room was slightly better, there was still a faint cigarette smell coming through the bathroom ventilation.
Water pressure was acceptable but underwhelming. It functioned, but the flow could have been stronger, especially considering the room rate.
We ran out of towels the first night and called the following morning. Several hours passed before receiving a call back explaining that towels were still being washed and dried. Later, we requested additional sheets and a comforter, as housekeeping services rooms only every two days. What we received were mismatched full-size flat sheets that did not fit the queen bed, with no fitted sheet included. This felt careless and disappointing.
Housekeeping interactions were also a letdown. On Sunday morning, my girlfriend greeted two housekeeping staff members downstairs and was completely ignored. Outside of the front desk staff, the overall atmosphere suggested low morale, as if employees were simply going through the motions.
Breakfast was another weak point. The food appeared microwaved, lacked freshness, and was poorly prepared. The sausage patties were still pink, the hash browns were soggy, and the potato wedges were cold and overly hard. Given the low volume of guests at the time, the quality should have been noticeably better.
One positive worth noting is the 24-hour airport shuttle service. If you are looking to save money on transportation to or from the airport, this can be arranged by calling the front desk.
Overall, the property feels like it is slowly deteriorating from the inside out. While the front desk staff , particularly Tanisha , did their best, the pricing does not align with the condition of the rooms, housekeeping standards, or breakfast quality.
I will not be returning, but I hope this feedback is taken as constructive criticism and used to improve the guest experience rather than taken personally.
