Horrible experience. Horrible service. Clogged sinks, broken elevators, insensitive service. It is by far the most convenient location for visiting but I’ll do my best not to stay here again. I’ll be back to the Residence Inn just up the road on Forbes. The elevator kept stopping at floor seven, but would not open. I waited several cycles before taking the stairs from the seventh floor. Then upon my return when I got to the seventh floor, the door only opened halfway, and I had to squeeze out. The front entrance closes early (which they did not tell me when I checked in and claim there’s a sign outside.) However, the room key works to the straight walk-in front door. Yet you can only get through the first door, not the second. In between doors, I was knocking, and the woman at the front desk kept waving at me. I didn’t know what she was trying to say. As I continue to knock, she just kept waving. I felt trapped between doors and unsure what to do. While the key gets you into the first door, the second door is still locked - supposedly for safety reasons, yet I felt completely unsafe. If you don’t want people coming in, then lock the first door, too, and don’t let them get stuck between the doors. The voice system that allows you to call the front desk wasn’t working either. I ended up having to call the front desk from my phone. The bathroom sink was also clogged, but to be honest, I didn’t even call. Why bother? I just recently moved back to Hilton as my primary hotel brand, but this certainly changed my mind. Back to Marriott I go.

This hotel is an absolute nightmare, a festering pit of incompetence and neglect that makes a roadside motel look like a five-star resort. Let’s start with the parking garage—a valet-only scam that fleeces guests with extortionate overnight fees. Your only alternative? Schlep your bags blocks away to another lot, a cruel joke for anyone with a disability. Upon entering, we were "greeted" by a desk clerk so glued to her phone she acted like our presence was a personal affront, dragging herself from her digital cocoon with all the enthusiasm of a sloth on sedatives. The elevator? A flickering, creaky death trap that felt like it might plummet at any moment. Stepping onto our floor was like stumbling into the Overlook Hotel from The Shining—dingy, buckled carpets, peeling paint and wallpaper, and lighting so dim you’d think they were hiding bodies in the shadows. No blood oozed from the walls, and Jack Nicholson wasn’t lurking with an axe, but those were the only mercies. We stayed solely because of its proximity to the transplant center, a decision we regretted every second. Breakfast was a new low: a pathetic "buffet" of cold, pre-cooked slop served by a waitress who snapped at my wife, demanding to know if we were “with the group” like we’d crashed her private party. She only turned on the charm when she realized a tip was at stake—too little, too late. This place isn’t just a hotel; it’s a masterclass in misery, a wretched dump we’ll avoid like the plague for all future visits. Save yourself the torment—steer clear at all costs.

Hotel is in a great location and they are nice in general, until something goes wrong. The only option to park is through their Valet services. The Valet employee moved the car inside the garage and scratched it around midnight. The front desk employee called our room at midnight, and asked that we immediately come to the front desk, that they needed to talk to us in person. When asked about what was happening, she was rude and said that I needed to go now and that she won't explain anything over the phone. After going to the front desk, there was the valet parking employee and he asked that I go with him to check on the car. After looking at the damage, I asked what do we do next, he said that he will pay cash for the damages. I explained that the car was a rental, and that I needed to work this through the insurance. He offered to have his manager reach out to me in the morning. Next morning, I tried talking to the hotel manager, but I was in a rush and they said that the manager will call me. Long story short, 2 days pass, no one ever wanted to talk to me and when I finally connected with a hotel manager, she became upset and rude when I asked if we should call the police to create a report given that no one wanted to provide insurance information. At the end, no one called, they just push the problem back and forth between Pittsburgh Valet services and the hotel management but no one really wanted to be responsible for the damages. If you have no other option but to stay here, try and find a parking option that it is not the Valet at the hotel.
