DO NOT STAY HERE if you expect basic courtesy.
At approximately 5:00 a.m. on a Sunday, the front desk refused to allow me to briefly wait in the lobby, stating that “people were checking out.” The explanation made little sense and was delivered in a curt, dismissive tone.
The staff member appeared easily agitated and unwilling to communicate calmly or professionally. I’ve stayed at many DoubleTree by Hilton locations and have never experienced this level of poor customer service, and threat to public safety.
If you arrive early, need flexibility, or expect professionalism from the front desk, be aware that this location does not meet the standards associated with the brand.

The hotel's location is within walking distance to the square. And the rooms are clean. The mini fridge and microwave setting on the floor is lacking Elegance to say the least. The shower head was broken as much water came out the side of it as the front. The restaurant could use some help, and parking is pricey! Over all it felt like thay could use some investor attention. But the bed was comfortable and the room was clean.

The hotel served its role as a stop-over with the family. I don't like to valet park with extra charges but it took a time or two around the block to figure out which nearby garage would work (US Steel Tower). The truck barely fit the 6' height but we made it.
Check-in was smooth, staff was kind and courteous.
There is alot of rehab going on throughout the building but it didn't impact our floor. Got off on the wrong floor and saw quite a bit of work.
The toilet ran all night despite my efforts to close the flapper. Ottoman was torn, all other furniture was fine.
The pool was nice for the kids. Water was dripping down from the domes into the pool but I assured the kids it was condensation. Not sure if that was accurate but it placated them.
Smooth check out, cookies are always a winner. Close to Pamela's for the best breakfast in Pittsburgh.

I woke up New Year's morning to the most positive vibe in town. The front dest clerk working named De Vaughn made everyone's day with a smile & the highest level of service given. I'm an avid traveler & wish De Vaughn could be a hospitality trainer to the rest of the hotels out there. Double Tree has a true gem!
I need to also add that Alley Rohm (Front Desk) was always with a smile willing to help us with our questions & needs. These two made our 4 day stay. Now we can't wait to come back to Pittsburgh & check out all their recommendations.

First, it’s our third stay here and it does not disappoint. Alley, the Front Desk Office Manager, is amazing. She is extremely attentive and has provided upgrades and extended courtesies. We are greeted by charming and friendly reception staff and warm cookies. The Hotel smells wonderful and is clean. They are remodeling it, but you don’t hear the work. You don’t see it unless the elevator doors open on a remodel floor. We stayed in a newly remodeled room, and it was fantastic. The window treatments and new furniture and flooring is elegant and tasteful. Housekeeping is meticulous. We received an email, every day from Curtis and Jessica ensuring we lacked nothing. Bigelow for breakfasts, is perfection. Love this home away from home that is centrally located to everything. We visited the market district, the strip, the stadiums and museums. The rink and it’s beautiful surrounding area. We walked the bridges. Never need to drive. Great value for the price.
