  We used the Desmond for our wedding hotel blocks after it was recommended to us. Overall, it was not a pleasant experience from a bride perspective, but as a guest, I have no complaints. We booked the suite, which was spacious and lovely. Honestly, the rooms, Fox & Hounds pub, and space overall was great. I'd recommend staying there as a guest. Working with them as a bride was a nightmare. There were multiple times guests reached out because rooms were not available in our block when we were promised them and I had to contact the Desmond multiple times to fix things.. not ideal when you are planning a wedding. When we called to add another night onto our own reserved room, it took about 15 minutes because the staff couldn't figure out how to add us onto our own block. A guest called on the last day of our block and was told by the staff that my hotel block was full and they had to pay full price. Luckily, I was sitting next to the guest and knew there were rooms available. Essentially, I do not know how long the Desmond was incorrectly telling my guests that no rooms were available, when there were still plenty of rooms available. This ultimately led to guests paying more for rooms, impacted my estimates for how big of a shuttle I needed, and caused tremendous stress. I will say that my contact at the hotel was very kind and responsive whenever I emailed about a problem, but I felt that these problems shouldn't have happened in the first place. Overall, I would stay here as a guest but would never recommend anyone working with them as a bride for a hotel block. It was truly a nightmare and an unprofessional, disorganized experience.

  Really enjoyed my stay. I love how historical this hotel looks, not your typical doubletree! Steak in the restaurant was good and staff are all friendly. Thank you for a good stay. Frank

  Got a king bed room on the third floor. The 4 poster bed was beautiful and comfy. Bathroom was small, but had good counter space. No overhead lighting. The ball room and event space was very nice.

  Hotel is frumptastic and needs a complete renovation. The hallways are dark and dank. As a Diamond member, I was given an "upgrade" and the benefit of that was a weird additional space of 10 sq feet and being adjacent to the ice machine room and having to listen to it cycle on and off all night and feel like it was in the room with me. (At one point at 2AM, I got up looking for a unplug mini fridge, only to realize it was on other side of wall) Breakfast menu was anemic, not much to choose from. All in all, I guess I expected something different and I could have done better elsewhere for less. I'm starting to think a lot of the online reviews are not real either, because I could not see why this hotel is ranked relatively high.
