Really bad. The hotel lacks transparency when collecting customers' money. I booked a hotel room at the end of December 2025, each room was charged $100-$200 deposit. On the day of check-out, because the hotel did not receive $45 for the last day's room, it asked me to pay more and said that it would be refunded after the hotel received the money that was still stuck in the bank. However, after 45 days of check-out, my room deposit of about $500 has not been refunded. My friend who is the person in the name of the reservation has contacted to solve but has not been processed so far. It's terrible.

Guarded by a phalanx of hunchbacked warriors that I assume are not to be reckoned with, I do not recommend testing that hypothesis, this is one of two places I've stayed in Portland where I wasn't already paying rent. Plus this upscale flophouse is two to three times as haunted as the White Eagle. It's always a good idea to get yourself a scooter and race around the typically empty parking garage. Probably due for a renovation but I love the game of Keepin' It Real chicken they're playing with the Motel 6 down the street. If you support Keeping Portland Weird bless your heart, this is your best, last hope.
Hotel bar is top notch by all accounts. Portland always did bars well and this place hasn't forgotten.

Just arrived today and they checked me into a room that still had someone in it. Bed was a mess, clothes everywhere, I'm also pretty sure the person was in the bathroom, I obviously booked it out of there. I ran back downstairs and the guy at the front desk hardly reacted, like this is something that happens here on the regular. Apparently they give out working keys to occupied rooms and then watch the chaos ensue. I've had some fairly interesting hotel experiences, but this was a first for me. Didn't offer anything for the inconvenience, just a complimentary spike of cortisol to to start my business trip, probably the third time this has happened today, at least that's how the lack of reaction felt on my end. Anyway, first and last time I'll be staying at the Portland Doubletree. Come at your own risk.

Demanded I pay for the from upfront even when I showed them the receipt from paying in advance through Capital One.
On top it all the fire alarm went off in the early morning hours. Was told we would be refunded a for one night. Then told that since we booked not directly through them all we got was certificate for a night at this location when we are out of state travelers.
This is all when I tried to give this place a second chance after literally trying to give my room away a year before which was also prepaid for directly though them.
Don’t stay here, there are plenty of other area hotels with decent rail access and close enough rates

Frustrated, because the staff have been absolutely amazing, and the room we had was spacious and a nice view. However.. upon entering our room, we used the restroom and the toilet broke. Called someone to fix it, it happened very quickly and the man was very kind.
Went to unpack our suitcases and found a vape and joint in one of the drawers. Made us pretty nervous that the rest of the room (beds) hadn’t been cleaned properly.
Also the only hotel I’ve ever been to that didn’t have some kind of mini fridge to hold leftovers/refrigerated medication that I was stressed to figure out.
After coming back from exploring the town, the toilet broke again.
We decided to order from the restaurant, and they ended up overcharging us $20+ for our food. Food was also dry (shrimp), missing the sauces (pomegranate for the steak), and didn’t include the ingredients that were listed (no risotto). They did end up comping our meal which was very kind of them to do.
We are so grateful to the kind staff who were able to help us with our issues, and if it had only been one issue we would not have complained. But, to spend $130 for one night, $75 for our dog, $32 for parking, aka $200+ for one night at a hotel, this was way too much trouble.
