Disappointing Stay – Not What I Expected
The location of Holiday Inn Toronto Downtown Centre is relatively convenient. There are plenty of food options nearby, and it’s within walking distance to shopping areas in downtown Toronto, which is definitely a plus.
However, the hotel experience itself was disappointing. It feels very much like a self-service property. There was no assistance with luggage, and I had to carry my bags up the stairs myself, which unfortunately resulted in breaking one of my fingernails.
The biggest issue was with the room assignment. I booked a twin-bed room, but upon arrival, the front desk tried to switch me to a single-bed room that was very small and cramped. I had to insist on what I originally reserved, which made the check-in experience uncomfortable.
The room condition was also below expectations. It feels old and not very well maintained. Basic amenities were not properly prepared — the shampoo and body wash containers were empty, and the toothbrush provided was extremely hard. Overall, the room did not feel well cared for.
Another inconvenience was the elevator situation. There are only two operating elevators, which meant waiting 5–7 minutes during busy times just to get a spot inside.
On a positive note, the checkout process was quick and smooth.
Overall, nothing particularly special about this hotel. It’s acceptable if you have limited options in Toronto, but I would not consider it my first choice next time.

Near chinatown and loads of great food places, nice hotel with good deals, reception can get crowded and staffs mood can be hit or miss, they were nice enough however to let me check in as my flight arrived early, rooms are small but clean and comfortable, shower area is a bit cramped. the pool area is nothing too special and small but a great addition nonetheless, the terrace area was also nice to chill in. the bar area was very good with very friendly and knowledgeable staff with good happy hour deals. definitely recommend for beginner travellers in toronto.

RIP OFF. Book your room, get there, and THEN you find out it is 40$ a night for parking. Oh "kids eat free" after adults pay 28$ for a hotplate breakfast bar. For the ammount I spent on this room, I would have been better to leave toronto for the night comfort wise and price wise. What kind of hotel charges you to park there for the night? that should be included in your stay price! Of course I need somewhere to park, I'm obviously from out of town! Rooms are small. Like damn small, as are beds. Kind of expected in downtown t.o. Smelled like cigarettes the moment I walked in the door.

My boyfriend and I stayed here on Sunday, February 15th 2026 as a late Valentine’s celebration. We were initially pleased with the hotel location, clean lobby and moderate service.
As for the rooms themselves, the linen was stale and you could hear everything in the hallway so the rooms were not very sound proof.
The huge issue we faced was when we were in bed and noticed a bed bug. This was around 2-3am and obviously ruined our stay. We left the majority of our clothes and ended up leaving because of this issue.
We called down to the desk immediately and reported it but we faced very poor customer service. They did not take the issue seriously and treated us poorly despite my boyfriend forwarding photos and videos as proof.
It is now 4 days later and we have yet to receive proper updates or a response and we are now fighting for a refund.
Nobody greeted by bed bugs in a hotel should have to wait and/or argue for a refund. We are extremely disturbed by our experience here and will never be returning.
Please do better.

We stayed here last night and overall had a good experience. The hotel was clean, well kept, and had a nice atmosphere. Staff were pleasant and everything ran smoothly during our stay.
The rooms are quite small and the hallways are very narrow, so it can feel a bit tight, especially if you have luggage. That would be my only real downside.
On the positive side, the pool was very warm — honestly warmer than most hotels we’ve stayed at, which was a great bonus. For the price, it was definitely worth it.
Overall, a solid stay and good value.
