Best hotel experience ever! I took a red eye flight in to Toronto, and wondered how early I could check in knowing that usual check in is late afternoon. I called the hotel from the airport to try to plan my day around when I could check-in. After checking my room type and availability, Henry told me, to my dismay, that I could head straight to the hotel and check-in right away! I arrived at 9 am and was in my room at 9:15 am. All the staff at this hotel are extremely kind and go out of their way to be friendly and helpful, from the front staff (Henry who checked me in) to the cleaning staff who offered extra water and towels and asked where I am visiting from, to the porter who as I was leaving after check out asked if I need help with my bags or getting to the parking lot. Room was clean and stocked. Great location and value of the hotel in a prime location close to University & Dundas. Would definitely stay again!
Second time staying here visiting Toronto , and the stay is wonderful. It’s in walking distance of many shops and attractions, and the food here is also really good. We have tried a few things from the fish & chips , to the lemon cream pasta , to the margarita pizza. The people in the restaurant are very friendly and nice , and so are the other staff in general. Only one star off for the room because it is a bit small for the price and out dated but other than that it doesn’t interfere with our stay. The view is very nice from the hotel as well

Bad experience at double tree by Hilton
Toronto
We stayed at your hotel on 30th December for one night with my husband and our son. Actually 4 pm check in , but they provided the room earlier, and 12 pm checked out. That was appreciated i am writing to share feedback regarding our stay, which unfortunately did not reflect the standards expected from a Hilton-branded property.
At check-in, we were given key cards and cookies only. No information was provided about allergy considerations or what the cookies were made of. There was also no explanation about what was included in our booking, where the dining locations were, breakfast details, or whether room service was available. It appeared that guests are expected to independently find all necessary information, as none of these basic details were proactively provided by the receptionist.
Later in the evening, we ordered French fries and chicken wings. Initially, the restaurant staff informed us that only pizza was available. After further questioning, they agreed to prepare the items. We were then told to come and pick up the food ourselves. This raised the question of what the purpose of hotel dining service is, especially when guests come to relax and enjoy their stay.
The food quality was extremely disappointing. The French fries were excessively salty and did not seem fresh. The chicken wings were also poorly prepared and not fresh.
The most disappointing experience was breakfast. The sausages were very tough .The scrambled eggs were not tasteless
and did not appear freshly made. The bread was not fresh either. , a very limited selection of cut fruits, and overall very little variety. For children, only packed cereal was available, with no pancakes or other child-friendly options. Considering the price charged and the Hilton brand name, the breakfast quality was far below expectations.
At checkout, there was no greeting, no inquiry about our stay, and no words of thanks. The key cards were taken without any interaction, leaving us with a poor final impression of the hotel.
We chose this hotel expecting a certain level of service and hospitality associated with Hilton. Unfortunately, our experience did not reflect that standard. I hope this feedback will be reviewed seriously and used to improve service quality in the future.
1/5 — Overpriced, outdated, cramped, and poorly managed
This was easily the worst Hilton stay I’ve ever had. The DoubleTree Downtown Toronto is wildly overpriced for what you get.
The hotel and rooms feel old and worn down—like they haven’t been renovated in decades. The room was extremely small to the point where it was genuinely hard to maneuver around the bed and furniture. And the “queen” bed? It was the smallest queen-sized bed I’ve ever seen—so small I honestly questioned whether it even qualifies as a true queen.
Parking is another major issue. There’s no convenient on-site option—you’re forced to use a public parking garage down the street, which is inconvenient and frustrating, especially with luggage or in winter. If you drive a larger vehicle (like a SUV), forget it: the clearance is so low you likely won’t even fit.
Service was disappointing too. When I raised these concerns, at least one front desk staff member was completely unhelpful, which only made the experience worse.
Amenities are basically nonexistent, and the location/view is terrible—our window looked directly onto a rundown apartment building. To top it off, the front drop-off/pick-up area wasn’t even properly cleared. It was covered in snow and slush, and my feet were soaked just walking through it.
There’s truly nothing redeeming here. Save your money and book literally anywhere else.
