I travel frequently for work, and this has been one of my most disappointing hotel experiences. My first room was visibly unclean, with grime and splatter on the bathroom walls, stains in the tub, and bad lighting; while staff quickly moved me, it was frustrating to repack immediately after checking in. The second room was cleaner but still had issues, including a non-functional Chromecast and loud drilling next door with no notice. The bathrooms overall are very outdated, and as a single female traveler, the door doesn’t feel fully secure and a significant amount of hallway light comes in at night. Staff are pleasant but the quality does not match the price.

Amazing stay! From check-in, all staff were incredibly friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. Rooms were lovely and had a balcony with a gorgeous view of the CN Tower! The construction next door didn't make a difference as the balcony door is soundproofed. I had 2 double beds and they were very comfy and was so nice to sleep in after a busy day. Bathroom was nice, with enough room to put stuff down. The hairdryer was okay, but I reccomend bringing you own as its not very powerful. The shower pressure is very nice and gets very warm. It was so nice to have a mini fridge in the room as I had a room only stay. The take away cups were a very nice touch. The gym and pool where amazing and the outdoor terrace was so cool. But it is a shame that you can't eat or drink in either outdoor terraces. The luggage storage system was so efficient, very helpful and FREE! The location is INCREDIBLE, you are only a 5min walk away from Yonge and Dundas square and the Eaton Centre. Grocery shops are close by and quite cheap, I reccomend Loblaws on Carlton Street. There are so many lovely restaurants and cafes near by. Frans Restaurant was very nice with so many food options. I would 1000% stay again and I highly recommend it to anyone! The photo is the view from the bed in room 1903. :)

Our first time on holidays In Toronto and first time staying in Chelsea Hotel for a week. Everything is bad about this hotel other than the location. The room is small and badly worn out. There are cracks all over and around the vanity edges, causing the vanity top to sink down at the edge, sloping outwards. Whenever we turned on the water tap, water would spill onto the top and drip to the floor. The heater / aircon is not working either, considering it is close to winter, you can imagine how cold it was sleeping in the room with only a thin blanket provided. No drinking glasses provided, except 2 disposable paper cups. There was an occasion the housekeeping in our room was not done when we returned to our room in the evening. When we went to the concierge to remind them, we were told to come back in 30mins and it would be sorted. However, when we returned, it still wasn’t done and we were told to wait for another 30mins with the reason given that they were very busy, which is totally unacceptable, no basic courtesy of a simple apology. The room was eventually tidied up but the shower gel was emptied and not refilled. When we checked out on the last day, the front desk was very rude and kept pushing us from one counter to another to collect our deposit, totally unprofessional. There are no basic ethics shown by the staff at the front desk and this is not what customers would expect from a 4 star hotel. The turn over at this hotel appears to be high and the staff have taken us for granted. We will never ever return to this hotel again. For those who are considering staying in this hotel, our advice is to go somewhere else.

The Good: Good location, lots of rooms, attractive rates and close to downtown - good location. The Bad: Took over 1/2 hour to check in because check in staff stated that I booked via a 3rd party and their system was having capability issues with the third party system I allegedly used. I was certain I booked direct but doubted myself because they were so assured in their stating of the issue causing the delay. So when I got to my room and powered up my laptop, I saw that the telephone number I called to book was from their website AND the confirmation email was from the Chelsea Hotel domain. When I booked I was asked if I had any special requests and I stated that I saw some reviews siting concerns with dirty rooms and asked them to insure my room was clean,. However, my clean towel had a long black hair on it that I realized when it stuck to me while drying off. Also, the fitted bed sheet was not totally pulled down and had a questionable brown (gulp) stain on it which I didn't notice until the morning when the room had bright daylight and the sheets were pulled down on both sides after waking - see attached pic - absolutely disgusting. The check out staff did NOT ask me how my stay was which had they, I would have advised about the sheets but since they did not, I am telling them by way of this review.

The rooms have been upgraded and the finishes in the main area are pleasant. There is no air conditioning. The supply is either heat (in winter) or cooling (in summer). It was very hot in the room when I arrived and I was able to cool it off by opening the patio door. But depending on the direction the wind was blowing it brought in the scent of old cooking oil from a nearby restaurant, which was unpleasant and led me to close the door and have no ventilation. The bathroom is tiny and basic - no fan, basic toiletries, the water flow in the shower was ok but almost non-existent from the sink taps. Acoustic privacy is lacking - it's very easy to hear noise from outside, the corridor and adjacent rooms. The hotel elevators are exceptionally slow and somewhat unreliable. The ongoing renovations meant that the second floor was permeated with a very strong chemical smell of glue from the carpet installation. This will not affect future guests, but better planning should have been considered - after hours, low VOC glue, fans to ventilate the space. Location is convenient - it's a short walk to the subway to connect to the train to Pearson. There are lots of restaurants, coffee shops and conveniences nearby. If your expectation is clean and basic, then this hotel is suitable.
