Very large hotels with different sets of colored elevators to different floors. Many room options, some are nice and others small. The small room also didn't include a coffee maker. They provided instant packs of coffee instead to use with the kettle. Fridge is in this room but no microwave in any of the rooms we have stayed at so far. They have renovated and for the most part it's decent job. However on a recent stay the bathtub was all chipped in large chunks even though the room was renovated. Also, the sound proofing is not the greatest so you can hear the hallway and adjacent room if they are speaking up. Overall though the rooms are comfortable.
Service is good at front desk. Check in is smooth and I like they are kind enought to allow late check-out if available without a fee. Or if seeking very late check to 6 pm a fee can be paid (not too cheap unfortunately). I will say during busier times there could be a wait at reception. I also appreciate the offer a hospital rate for hotel and parking, making my cancer treatment at Mount Sinai a little less stressful on the finances. You do need to show proof of hospital appointment, like a reminder email or letter.
Chelsea is also a great choice for families. They have a great pool facility with a slide. There was also children's activity room. Just a note you need to reserve pool time. You can reserve 50 minute slots maximum of two times a day. I think this is to make it fair for as many families to enjoy those facilities. We did not use them this time but we did when our kids were much younger. They had a great time.
Parking can be paid for which does get you in and out privileges. It's around $50ish if I can remember but you can sometimes get a park and stay package I believe. There was no valet parking available when we were there. The lot can be accessed on Gerrard Street and there are height restriction for those with taller vehicles. Parking garage is large! The ramps are a little tight though for those worried about driving in confined spaces. Note there is a a couple Tesla destination chargers on S1. They are first come first serve for hotel guests. I've seen them free and used so it may be luck if you just happen to get an unused one. I do not know if the car needs to be registered with the hotel when charging or if there is a time limit. Just a note on day of checkout you can remain parked until 3 pm. After that their system switches and you will be charged their hourly rate for parking. I think for guests it's only around $6 something, so it's still cheap for downtown standards.
I think the location of the Chelsea is fantastic. You can basically walk out on Gerrard to get to the hospital's (Mount Sinai, Princess Margaret, Toronto General, Sick Kids ..). It's about a 10-15 minute walk depending how fast you can go. Another door will take you almost out to Yonge Street. So many places to eat around there. It's also a few blocks from Dundas and Eating Center. Honestly the location just could not be better.
You will have to decide if the rate is worth it or not. For us it seemed like the closest hotel within walking distance of Mount Sinai. Maybe Sheraton is closer by a little. Big plus is the parking privileges if you need to take you car in and out. The reno's make it a much nicer but it's definitely not a new hotel. However, the combination of rate, location, room types and parking make it a great choice to have on your list of downtown Toronto hotels!

I had a very enjoyable stay at Chelsea Hotel, Toronto. The hotel’s location in downtown Toronto is excellent — it’s within walking distance of many attractions, shops, and restaurants, which made exploring the city easy and convenient. Guests frequently praise this central location as one of the hotel’s best features.
The rooms were comfortable and clean, and many even offered great views of the city from the balconies. The staff were friendly, attentive, and helpful every time we needed assistance, which made the stay even more pleasant.
The hotel also has great facilities, including a fun indoor pool, fitness center, and plenty of dining and lounge options on‑site. These amenities added extra enjoyment to our visit. While the building is large and has a classic feel, overall it felt well maintained and welcoming.

This is our favorite hotel when we visit Toronto. It is a couple of blocks away from the Eatons center, it is it n the heart of downtown Toronto. We have been staying here for 12 years now and we have seen some big changes. The hotel is ondergoing renovations and the parts that have been done look very nice and modern. There is an adult only pool on the 25th floor. My daughter loves the kids playroom. It just finished being renovated and it looks amazing. They have movie night on Friday and on Saturday they have different animals that they bring out letting the children touch or pet. There is a family pool, hot tub and a waterslide located beside the playroom. The waterslide is a good size and part of it goes outside the hotel. I would highly recommend this hotel if you need a place to stay downtown. It is clean, modern, affordable and convenient.

Where do I begin? While the room was tidy, it offered very little beyond the basics. The bathroom amenities were minimal — just one tiny bar of soap and a small, low-quality body lotion. The shampoo and conditioner provided in the shower were not products I would choose to use. There were also very few towels available. Coffee maker made available, but not stocked with coffee pucks.
The television was not a smart TV, so viewing options were limited to the standard cable channels. Upon arrival, we were informed that if we wanted access to Netflix or other streaming services, we should have brought our own cable or Fire Stick — something that would have been helpful to know in advance.
There is only one restaurant onsite, food is ok, but the menu is quite limited. There are additional restaurants nearby, a short walking distance.
Parking is another significant issue. The maximum vehicle height allowed is just 5’5”. We called ahead to ask about parking for a larger vehicle and were told it was first come, first served, which was disappointing and inconvenient.
I have stayed at this hotel many times in the past, but unfortunately, this will likely be my last visit. The property now feels more like a budget or economy hotel, yet the room rates do not reflect that level of quality. There are better options in the area at similar or better price points.
