Extremely poor bathroom design in the “Ramsey Wing”. Breakfast is NOT complimentary, it’s $28 which is absolutely insane. And coffee was $3.15 for a small cup. Front desk staff are unhelpful. The parking lot can get pretty full, but snow removal and maintenance do a great job

Had a very nice stay. My room was clean and the bed very comfortable. Gym area is pretty decent and wasnt busy. The desk staff were all very nice. I would definitely return if I needed to.

We recently stayed at the Holiday Inn on Regent Street in Sudbury as part of a youth hockey tournament. Our team booked dozens of rooms and there were approximately 58 of us — players, parents, and family members — staying together for several days. Months in advance, our team manager contacted the hotel to try to secure a conference room so our team would have an appropriate place to gather. We were quoted $400 + 13% tax + 17% service fee. When she explained that was well outside our team budget and asked whether there were any alternative or creative solutions (a reduced rate, shorter rental window, unused space we could clean ourselves, etc.), communication stopped entirely. There was no follow-up. Because we were unable to secure a space, we did our best to manage within the hotel. These are 9–13 year old athletes — they move, they socialize, they celebrate together. That is part of a hockey tournament experience. We kept things reasonable and respected the 10 p.m. quiet hours. The latest anyone was up was around midnight one evening, and noise was minimal after quiet time. Despite this, the manager repeatedly approached us and told us we could not gather in hallways or public spaces at all. Parents standing outside their rooms talking quietly were told to disperse. We were told he could hear us “five floors down” in the lobby, which seemed exaggerated given that we couldn’t even hear hallway conversations from inside our own rooms. We had two team birthdays during our stay and were not permitted to sing Happy Birthday or have cake in a common area. When the team ordered pizza, we asked in advance whether we could use the breakfast area and assured them we would clean thoroughly afterward. We were told “absolutely not,” in a tone that felt dismissive and patronizing, with the comment: “You do realize you’re not the only guests staying here, right?” We fully understand that hockey teams can present challenges. However, if a hotel chooses to accept large team bookings, there should be some reasonable hospitality extended. We were not asking for anything extraordinary — simply a manageable space to gather and celebrate responsibly. Instead, the experience felt transactional and unwelcoming. It gave the impression that the hotel was happy to accept the revenue from multiple room bookings, but unwilling to provide even basic flexibility or hospitality in return. Unfortunately, we would not choose to stay here again as a team, my family specifically will not be staying here again either.

A pleasant stay overall for a sporting tournament at Laurentian university. The rooms were very good. Nice and big and updated very nicely too. The bed was comfy and the pillows were firm and thick which I usually like mine a little flatter but tat doesn’t really exist in hotels. Service was good depending where you are in the hotel. The front desk was efficient and friendly and the waiter in the restaurant near the front was very friendly and was always went above and beyond to help us out from making jokes with us to insisting on helping us pour the water. Service at the breakfast restaurant was average. No one really spoke or said anything and more robotic. The food for the breakfast wasn’t anything to rave about. Te breakfast potatoes and bacon were probably the best thing. Bread even before it was toasted was stale from what I heard of a fellow parent and my kids who usually love breakfast sausages were not anything special to them. Would probably recommend going to the nearby spots for breakfast or the nearby bakery for some fresh croissants. Location for Sudbury was decent. It’s about a few minutes off the highway and have a lot of places right by the hotel. Gas stations and restaurants were all within five minutes of each other and many are walkable from this hotel. Also regarding the location, it’s about 10 mins drive to the Laurentian athletic centre and also 10 mins to downtown Sudbury. Parking is in abundance and the hotel is large so they do have parking and entrances available on the back depending on where you are staying in the hotel. Good job overall
