If you’re looking to stay right in the middle of everything, the DoubleTree Hilton in downtown London definitely delivers on location. You can practically tumble out the front doors and into the city—coffee shops, events, nightlife, you name it. Now… about the parking. Hope you’re ready to make friends with the valet, because that’s your only option. And at $45, your car is basically staying at its own boutique hotel. There’s no self-parking lot, so surrender the keys and embrace the experience. The rooms? Let’s call them “charmingly classic.” They’re definitely a bit dated, but surprisingly well-kept—kind of like your favorite vintage jacket. The customer service was solid across the board. The only quirky hiccup: I checked in through the Hilton app, but the front desk looked at me like I had just announced I landed from Mars. No record of the check-in. Fun for everyone. A little duplicative, a little confusing, but ultimately sorted out. Overall: great location, good staff, slightly time-traveling rooms, and parking that costs more than my weekly coffee budget.

Don’t stay here. More expensive than others in town. Rooms were run down, with nasty smell and dusty carpet. Pool was cold and the hot tub is tiny and crowded. Expensive and inconvenient parking.

Server made me feel small and unwelcomed. They were impatient and it was odd that they suggested me talking to the Manager over a few small questions. I think they were afraid that I didn't have money to pay or was gonna steal their food. The whole situation was probably miscommunication but it made me cry a little. Lesson learned: next time going in a hotel, I should dress up more nicely, so people don't think I'm a highschool kid.

Staying the night before our daughter’s graduation. Over the past 6 years this is our first time here and will be the last. One of the worst Hiltons I have ever stayed in. Room is old and needs a serious facelift and deep clean. It stinks, tub has serious red water stains an around the perimeter and grout, the linen smells heavily of chemicals. Lamp shade was torn. TV needs replacing as picture is horrible. There was leftover hair on the floor and walls. Too bad I can’t post pictures. This is NOT the Hilton quality we are used to.

I think at one point, this was a 4-star hotel. Unfortunately, they have failed to keep up any aspect of it. As an example, I'll list a few issues with my room: 1. Bathroom sink took forever to drain and got backed up with each use; 2. All the wall paper was peeling; 3. The iron in my room was broken and ironing board clearly needing to be replaced; 4. Somehow, I could hear the pipes of the shower squeak with each movement I made in the shower. I felt as though something was going to break; and 5. I have asthma, and each morning when I awoke I was on the verge of an asthma attack. I suspect there may be mold in infecting the air conditioning unit. This is over and above the hoard of uncontrolled shrieking children who must have been attending a hockey tournament my group had to suffer through as we booked a space in one of the rooms on the second floor.
