The rooms have underwent a major renovation and they are so very beautiful and clean! The televisions in the rooms are brand new and are smart tv's now so you can login to your netflix account if you have one. What a difference this makes if you have kids traveling with you or you are for whatever reason in the room for a longer period of time or just want to relax and watch a movie at night. I would avoid the restaurant at all cost however as the food is below average for an expensive price. It was never very good and that hasn't changed one bit. In fact during our most recent stay in February 2026 the pool area was undergoing a major renovation and the restaurant was buffet style only. It was not worth 15.99 for breakfast and each day the options decreased. No milk for the cereal, expired yogurt, and undercooked bacon and sausage. I am sorry but they need to replace the cook! the Ice machine on floor 1 is always broken it seems leaving guest to go to the 3rd floor if they want ice. There isn't one on the 2nd floor at all. They now have security patrolling the parking lot to monitor the cars so that is an added feature!

We booked our room many months in advance to plan a nice weekend away with our family. For being booked so far in advance I was surprised to get a room that was so far away from actually getting to the pool. When you walk in the hallways and elevators they are thr temperature of outside. The hot tub itself seemed to be actually too hot. I give people credit who got in but its just not enjoyable. Slide was quite fun, probably best part of the place! Lifeguards are pretty friendly. In our room the thermostat didnt seem to work and as nice as it nissan to have a bathtub it's so tiny I believe it would be for children mostly. All of these are not make or break issues for me except when you pay a $1000 to be there for 2 nights and include all of these things, that's when it kinda hits you the wrong way. We were actually located next to a bunch of people playing music and being loud for most of the night and early morning. We aren't the kind of people to call and complain as we want everyone to have a good time but once I got a call waking my family and myself up at 2 in the morning saying the noise complaint came from our room was once again over the top what I consider understandable when paying what we did.

We brought our 3 children for a night away, they had fun but a few things I felt needed to be mentioned.
- check in time at 4pm is far too late
- we could barley get in the hot tub due to 7 person limit and it was full of children. The place has a huge pool and slide, why cant that be a kne kid free zone. My wife got in and when I tried to join her the lifeguard said I could till someone left. There was kids playing and going underwater with goggles one and parents did nothing so she got out.
- was told there was kitchenette, there was nothing other then fridge and microwave, the cupboards were empty. I would not call that kitchenette.
We were forced to get a family suite as we couldn't get a normal 2 bed room. But the family suite is just two queen beds anyway so why do I need to pay more. For a family suite one bed should be separate in order to give privacy to parents.
- the arcade cost was ridiculous and many things didn't work. Each kid got there own cards and all ended up woth random amounts of credits they could not spend.
- the pool is beautiful but water was far too cold, if the water was warmer maybe there would be far less children in the hot tub.
- breakfast in site wasnt great, coffee was just awful. Peamale bacon was like leather.
- the bar closes way to early, the kids were in bed and we went down to get a drink but they were closed.
- family suite doesnt have enough seats for the family to sit or a table to even sit around.
The pool area is beautiful but no value anywhere else, with the late check in and 11am check out it is better to stay for nights to somewhat get your money's worth. My kids had fun but I dont see us returning,

*WATERSLIDE ONLY OPEN ON WEEKENDS*
**The website “Hotel Information” section didn’t mention it and even my booking confirmation mentioned nothing about this, despite what the hotel’s Guest Services response to my review says (see photos).**
After much digging into the best hotel to take my kids to for a little staycation, I chose the Lamplighter Inn because of its great indoor pool and huge water slide!
Unfortunately, when we arrived for our first swim at the pool, we were informed that the slide was closed. The employee told us that because of cut-backs, the slide is only open on weekends. As a result, we had two very upset little boys. The main "selling" feature of the Lamplighter is the giant water slide, but it wasn’t open for use the whole time we were there.
I feel like our vacation, as-planned, was kind of soured. Why advertise that you have this fun space with an extra-special water slide if it’s only open 30% of the time for customer use? It feels deceptive to market the hotel in such a way when, if a customer happens to stay during the week, they don’t actually get to use it.
The room was nice enough, it just feels a bit like we spent hundreds of dollars without receiving what we actually paid for.
*I emailed the Best Western about this a day or two after, but I haven't heard back from anyone.

I've waited almost 3 weeks to post this review as the hotel manager and front desk manager both said they would call us regarding this issue. We have not received a call.
The room and hotel itself were fine. Parking was an issue with so many families/teams on the days we were there but we made it work. The rooms are old fashioned and the hallways are loud, again with all the families, and we were unaware this was a waterpark hotel as it was booked on our behalf by a clinic. The biggest issue with the room was that the water in the shower was scalding hot but the bathub wouldnt heat up past room temperature. The heater is also wildly loud and woke us up frequently when it would turn on. Lots of kids and drunk parents in the hallways well past 10pm but there were no staff anywhere to be found to help so we just stuffed towels around the bottom of the door to try to dampen the noise.
On our checkout day, Tuesday January 20, we had a major issue. Checkout is at 11am so at 9am I took a shower and was planning on staying right up until 11am as allowed. I walked out of the shower room into the hallway, completely naked after drying off in the shower room, and suddenly, our hotel door opened and one of the housekeeping staff walked into my room. I literally had nothing to cover up with and had to run across the hall into the sink/mirror area to get a towel to cover up. The staff member was STILL standing there so I said, "I'm still using the room!" and she said "when are you leaving?" as if I had overstayed. She literally just stood there and then left a second later. I rushed to pack and get dressed and then left and reported this to the front desk and a manager that was sitting in his office. Both claimed to take this seriously but apparently none did because we never received a call or even an apology.
There was a huge conference setting up on the main floor when I rushed out so clearly housekeeping was rushing through to clean rooms and get the next people in, but this shouldn't mean that I'm forced out and humiliated, literally standing naked in my supposedly private room, because they don't want to wait till be checkout time. I'll certainly never stay at this hotel again and will let anyone I know that is considering it what happened. It's especially concerning as this hotel is full of families using the waterpark facilities--how many children are at risk of being exposed by a hasty and rude staff?
