We were coming in for a Softball tournament, and it was canceled after the cancelation date. I called the hotel and they said it was all taken care of. Come to find out they did not take care of it and charged me. After finding out about the charge I called back to the hotel and they will now not handle in house had to call Hilton. I then asked if I could just reinstate the reservation and they told me no.

If you are in town for anything that could change last minute, do not consider this property. I understand that there are cancellation policies, but things happen. A ball tournament was cancelled a day after the stated cancelation policy and they have been unwilling to work with this. A business with integrity would at least give a credit, no questions asked, but instead they would rather fleece you for a daily rate. After cancellation without a refund, they will also fight reinstating the room presumably because they not only want you to pay for not receiving services but also want someone else to book the room. I understand the nature of cancellation policies and that they are just following the letter of the policy, but one must ask themselves whether they want to do business with a place that hides behind policies when they could simply do the right thing when things change. The fact that they are legally justified in their actions doesn't change the fact that anyone with a basic sense of right and wrong would not act like this. Edit: Whether it's you personally, or whether you are going to blame it on corporate, the point still stands. Maybe next time consider taking it to corporate and getting it addressed before it comes to this because there is no world in which you couldn't have figured this out. I also don't need the condescending "understanding" of the frustration. There are ways to work with the customer and you didn't. So blame it on the fine print if you want, but buyer beware. One has to wonder, though, whether Hilton corporate keeps that money or whether the property gets a cut. I suppose I'll never know since the owner would rather post passive aggressive comments than attempt to reach out and solve a problem. It is curious suggesting calling the hotel in the future when that's exactly what happened and there was apparently nothing they could do, not even simply reinstating the cancelled night.
