We recently stayed at the Hampton Inn in Mansfield, OH, and unfortunately the experience was disappointing overall.
When I arrived to check in, there was no one at the front desk and I waited about five minutes before someone showed up. During check-in, ongoing construction made it very difficult to hear the receptionist—power tools were running constantly about 10 feet from the front desk, which made for a chaotic first impression.
The hotel was under construction throughout our stay, which significantly impacted comfort and convenience. The bed was uncomfortable, and my back is still sore even a week later. Breakfast was relocated to the conference room, while the coffee was set up outside the elevators, which felt awkward and inconvenient.
I understand renovations are sometimes necessary, but the noise, layout disruptions, and overall discomfort made this stay fall well below the standard I usually expect from a Hampton Inn.

Our stay was wonderful! All encounters with staff (front desk, breakfast, housekeeping) were pleasant. More than a simple greeting, but nothing that felt like a forced conversation.
Room was clean and well-maintained. Tub was gently-used in appearance, but not dirty in any way. No odor, and quiet. Nicely kept amenities.
Breakfast had cereal, biscuits, fruit, eggs/protein/gravy, bagels and other bakery items, waffle makers with vanilla and churro batter options (large and 4 mini), 3 coffee types, hot tea, and other drinks.
It is a specific preference, but I'm always aware of where I'm staying in unknown cities (safety-based). It's located right across from a state-police building. This made me feel particularly comfortable at night, when taking out my pup (pet-friendly $ hotel).

Very clean, comfortable beds with 4 good plush, comfy pillows per bed, complimentary coffee in your room, very friendly energetic staff, especially Angie and Verna. Their positive energy was contagous. I left breakfast in a better mood than went I went downstairs to eat. But speaking of breakfast, as far as continental breakfasts go, theirs was FANTASTIC! More than just cereal and fruit, and make your own waffles. They also had omelets, French toast, and huge sausage patties, all of which were delicious. Definitely worth staying at if you're in need of a place to stay.
They even had a phone charger I could borrow after I accidentally left mine at home.
