Booked the stay with anticipation of being able to use the pool with the kids before event plans in the city. Called ahead of time to see about having access prior to official check in time but was told no.
When we arrived, we were able to early checkin by about 30 min, but the staff was not very friendly, and the pool was unusable. The water was cloudy green, with visible film and grime floating. We couldn’t even see the second stair.
The rooms were nice and clean, but the pillows had a strange odor of lingering pot/weed smell. They also were pretty worn down and not comfortable. Not what we have experienced with other Hilton brand hotels or other Tru hotels.
The breakfast was nice, but when appreciating the staff verbally for their help and service, wasn’t even acknowledged in response even though I spoke directly to their face. They just turned away…. Pretty rude if you ask me.

I generally don’t expect much from Hilton anymore, but Tru by Hilton took disappointment to a whole new level.
My wife pregnant with twins and our 2-year-old booked a stay well in advance for my birthday. What was supposed to be a special, stress-free night turned into a complete disaster.
We waited in line for an hour and a half just to check in. No staff came to assist. No updates. Just a long line of tired guests and a front desk that looked completely overwhelmed and unprepared. When we finally reached the counter, we were hit with a "deposit" we were never told about despite having already paid in full and being Hilton Honors members. This felt made up on the spot.
The manager was completely unhelpful unprofessional, rude, and clearly not equipped to handle even basic guest needs. Once we finally made it to our room, it was dirty (see attached photos), which at this point, sadly, wasn’t even surprising.
We asked for extra pillows and a blanket not exactly a luxury request when you're traveling with a pregnant woman carrying twins and were told no. I explained our situation, and we were begrudgingly given one extra pillow and blanket. That’s it. The lack of compassion or flexibility was shocking.
You’d think a family who waited nearly two hours to check in with a visibly pregnant woman and a toddler might be treated with a little more empathy. But apparently, that’s not the Tru by Hilton way.
To top it off, the entire downstairs smelled like weed and stale beer, like we’d checked into a college dorm, not a family hotel.
We ended up missing our birthday dinner reservation because of the check-in delay and had to DoorDash hot dogs to the room. A fitting end to a frustrating and disappointing stay.
Bottom line: This was easily one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had. If you’re looking for hospitality, comfort, or basic human decency, look elsewhere. Tru by Hilton did not deliver on even the most basic expectations.
