Nice location downtown. Everything is old. They're trying to uphold the fancy 1920's look but their handy men are lacking.

The Netherland Plaza is a once, and I hope, future, great hotel that right now is less than that. Plusses: the public areas are so beautiful. The Palm Court is a great place to be for drinks, for music, for a meal. The dinner I had in the 1931 restaurant on my visit last year was fine, not memorable. There are really excellent restaurants within walking distance, and I don't expect the hotel to match them. The downtown location is great for Fountain Square, the convention center and other attractions. The room was clean, quiet and what I expected. The rates currently are reasonable -- but, I strongly suspect that is tied to the problems I'm about to mention. It is no secret that there have been some crime issues in downtown Cincinnati; all I can say is that the area around Fountain Square was well lit and well populated on Sunday and Monday evenings and I didn't feel at all unsafe. The personnel in the hotel were all friendly and professional. Negatives: with the Carew Tower vacant, the Arcade that used to be so lively is now a little creepy. The adjacent Mabley Garage lobby is shabby, despite the cost to park there being higher than a garage just a block away that is much better maintained. The Netherland Plaza is currently facing financial difficulties, and it shows: there are any number of visible maintenance issues, from rooms and public areas needing paint and plaster repairs, to seats in the restaurant that need the naugahyde coverings to be replaced. The buffet breakfast would be adequate, but for embarrassingly bad scrambled eggs, which are pretty central to a breakfast buffet! Both on my visit last December, and this week, the eggs were terrible. Everything points to a lack of proper care. These things won't cause me to rule out staying at the Netherland the next time I visit downtown Cincinnati, but the picture is troubling. I really hope the problems can be addressed.

12/20/25 this morning Seating hostess was EXTREMELY rude and demeaning to my wife and I after asking a simple question about breakfast (paid for it online and asked how we go about redeeming it) We promptly checked out after that to never return without eating. I paid too much for my wife to get disrespected by the staff, that is a major line that was crossed. We were polite and asked a simple question Parking is not included in the price, expect another 35 ontop for that. Menu prices are insanely high. After you get over the initial wow factor of the art deco atmosphere it was not a good experience what so ever. less amenities available that a 2 star hotel. System was down to go to bar or restaurant. Nowhere in room to heat up food. They told us to go somewhere else to eat.
