Beautiful place with an amazing staff! They showed genuine care for my needs and expectations from the moment I arrived until I checked out . I checked in around 11 p.m., and even though it was late, when I asked to see the breakfast menu, a staff member went all the way to the restaurant to get a copy for me. I was truly impressed by their dedication.
The hotel offers great amenities focused on self-care, relaxation, and wellness. It’s in a perfect location with beautiful views. The only small issue I had was with the room temperature, but as soon as I contacted the front desk, they responded quickly and resolved it right away.
The level of attention and care I received made me feel genuinely valued as a guest. It’s rare to experience such thoughtful service nowadays, and I truly appreciate it. I highly recommend this hotel!

I spent 5 nights here and my experience was pretty calm. It was peaceful, great scenery inside. The rooms are on the smaller side considering the price but not that big of a problem for me. I loved that they accommodated me tremendously putting a microwave in my room when rooms don’t have them since I’m big on leftovers. I took advantage of all amenities they offered like free yoga classes, free tea and coffee, spa massage (not free but still good). Minor things that annoyed me was that the Netflix wasn’t working, not even screen sharing so I settled with the few cable channels they provided. Also in room dining, you have to pay 20 dollars minimum so might as well take the trip downstairs to order your food. Also the heated pool wasn’t giving heated, more so lukewarm. But still enjoyed it and the sauna. All in all this is a hotel I’d stay at again.

Here’s an updated version with that detail included:

I was really disappointed with my stay at this hotel in Rockaway, NY, which I booked through the Amex Hotel Collection. The rooms are **way too small**, to the point where it felt cramped and uncomfortable. There is **no closet at all**, so I had nowhere to properly hang or store my clothes, which made the room feel even more cluttered.
On top of that, there is **no safe in the room**, which is something I expect from any decent hotel these days, especially one featured in the Amex Hotel Collection. I didn’t feel comfortable leaving my valuables in the room because of that.
Overall, the lack of space, no closet, and no safe made the stay frustrating and not worth the price. I wouldn’t stay here again and I definitely wouldn’t recommend it to others, especially given that it was booked through Amex’s program and my expectations were much higher.

I’ve had the pleasure of staying and now dining at the Rockaway Hotel. My friend and I visited as part of my birthday celebration and I was beyond pleased. The venue is grand! Far beyond what meets the eye. There are several different event spaces located in the venue. There’s a space overlooking the beach and has a scenic view of the city. Each space at the venue is charming. I’m interested in having a birthday celebration here. Darren McLeod, the General Manager gave us a personal tour of the entire facility. Meeting him was such a pleasure. He is knowledgeable, detailed oriented and is such a people person, attributes that are difficult to find in this day and age. I look forward to renting a space at this location for my next birthday gathering. I highly recommend the Rockaway Hotel if you’re interested in casual dining, a spa day/weekend with friends and family, or a large scale event. This place meets all of your needs.

I’ll be posting a separate review of the spa and therapist at the end of this hotel review, because the experience truly deserves special mention.
This was our first time staying here, and we ended up booking an extra day—possibly even another. Now, I'm not going to pretend it is cheap; it is not. But it is value for money.
The hotel is lovely, and the staff are consistently warm, attentive, and welcoming. The food is excellent, and the décor has a relaxed, beach vibe that feels just right given the hotel’s proximity—only a few blocks—to Rockaway Beach. We came here to rejuvenate at the end of an awful year, and honestly, who cares if it’s winter and a major snowstorm is on the way? We feel comfortable, cared for, and at ease. Considering staying there for New Year's Eve/day.
We stayed in a two-bedroom bungalow with stunning views of Manhattan, along with access to a heated outdoor pool and a sauna. Would we stay here again? Absolutely.
A couple of suggestions for management: adding sound-absorbing tiles or patterned acoustic panels on the walls would help reduce echo in the living room and bedrooms. Also, the living room furniture would benefit from higher seating. The current setup is relatively low and not ideal for guests with back or hip issues. Lastly, in-room reusable water bottles could be cheaper.
Building automatic roof and side panels around the pool would make it more comfortable in the wintertime. Heating the pool is such a plus. cover over
Now, the spa experience—this deserves its own spotlight.
This was my first visit to the spa, and I cannot say enough about Miss Jeanne, my massage therapist. She is absolutely exceptional. As a World Trade Center toxic dust cancer survivor who has endured three aggressive cancers, recent surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation, my body has been through a great deal. Each day presents its own challenges—particularly with my legs, feet, arms, and hands. The neuropathy in my hands and feet has been exceptionally debilitating.
This was my very first massage experience, and after just two sessions with Miss Jeanne, I genuinely feel a difference. Her healing hands seem to know exactly where and how to work—helping my body release deeply held tension and reconnect in ways I didn’t think were possible. The relief has been both physical and emotional.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you, Miss Jeanne. She is a true gem and an invaluable asset to the Rockaway team. I would also like to acknowledge the spa receptionist, who was warm, welcoming, and genuinely kind.
