Terrible experience for the cost. We arrived at 5pm and room still not ready. Let the front desk know that we had dinner reservations. She told us she would let us know as soon as the room was ready but then she was no where to be found and I had to ask at the desk again. There was dirt/mud on the floor, as usual they only had 3 towels for 4 people. We asked for towels 1 1/2 hours later still no towels had to call again before getting towels. The drain in the bathtub was so slow that by the end of my shower I was standing in a bathtub full of water. The restaurant where they serve breakfast was so drafty I had to wear a coat while eating. Of the 3 days we ate only the last waiter was good. The worst waitress was on the second day where I saw her twice, once for my order and once when the food came, had to flag someone else down for my check. Will not stay again

Overall our stay was very underwhelming. Having experienced multiple other 5 star hotels across the world, to us, this was not a 5 star experience. When we arrived to check in, we were a little early for the 3 PM listed check in time, which we understood, but were told we could pay our deposit and then they would notify us when the room was available. We stopped back at almost 5PM, having not heard anything yet. We were told they were sorry for the delay, but they were able to find a room that was now available, 2 hours after the listed check in time, but had never notified us. When our room was serviced during our stay, our toothbrushes and other small items were put in used dirty glasses, instead of either left where they were, or the glasses being changed out. Our toilet broke during our stay, and while trying to contact someone, after trying to call multiple phone numbers and texting the number provided on the room key, we had to wait on hold for over 15 minutes to speak to someone. The text number didn’t respond until over an hour later. Lastly, we tried to have a drink in the hotel bar. We were given an estimated wait time of 35 minutes. Over an hour later, I checked in to see if they had an updated time and was told they still didn’t have a table available and weren’t able to give me a time. They said the other restaurant, through a side door, was still open, and we could check there. I asked if they knew if there was any bar seating available and was told “I don’t know, I can’t see it from here.” I would have appreciated just saying they weren’t sure, but instead was talked to very rudely again. After that, we never got updated or told that they weren’t going to be able to fit us in before close, and only realized after checking back in 2 hours later that they had closed. I understand needing to make a reservation if that’s how busy they normally are, but on check in we were never informed or recommended to do this. As we never got to experience the Temple Bar, our only food experience was at breakfast, and the food and service were both rather sub par. Lastly during checkout no one asked how our stay was, they just asked our room number and said you’re all set and called the next person forward. I even went back up to request an itemized receipt, which was never sent to me. Overall I wouldn’t recommend this hotel for the high cost and low levels of service and courtesy. On a positive note, I will say the doormen, bellmen, and housekeepers were all very kind and courteous. The beds were comfortable.

Staff support was lacking. I tried calling the hotel 7 times at various points in a 3 hour span before arrival, no one picked up. Then when we got there, the front desk was unsure about amenities and were not that welcoming, not what I expect from a 5 star hotel. The room was nice and spacious, but our lights kept flickering or shutting off. The fire alarm started beeping at 7 am one day as well, disturbing our baby. When checking out, there was no one available to help us and the worker at the front just watched my husband load luggage in the car, did not help at all. For reference, we are very familiar with 5 star service, have stayed at some of the best hotels in the world including Four Seasons, various Ritz Carltons, Dorchester group hotels, jumeirah group hotels, mandarin oriental, etc. Despite being a beautiful historic building and having good food, this hotel lacked and felt more like a 3 star hotel.

I don’t usually leave reviews, but this stay seriously ruined our NYC trip. I had high expectations for a “5-star” hotel, and this was nowhere close. We booked two rooms—one for my mother and one for myself, my husband, and our young son. The experience was disappointing. The front desk staff was unprofessional and rude when we asked where we could warm our baby’s milk bottle. Our king room for two adults was given only one tiny complimentary water bottle. For a luxury hotel, this felt careless. On top of that, the minibar charged $8 for a tiny bottle of water, which is unreasonable for a room with two adults and a child. The worst issue was with my mother’s room. She wasn’t provided slippers, while our room had them. This caused her to think we had booked her a lower-tier room. When I asked the front desk, I was told they were “low on slipper stock.” That explanation is unacceptable, especially with no adjustment to the price or service. The room itself was very small, breakfast was overly salty, and restaurant service was inattentive. Overall, this was far from a 5-star experience in any sense. We won’t be returning.

The Beekman is a beautiful hotel and definitely makes a strong first impression. The moment you walk in, it feels upscale, luxurious, and thoughtfully designed. The overall decor and coziness of the space are very well done. The room itself was small, which is expected for New York, but nicely finished and clean. It felt upscale and comfortable visually. That said, the biggest downside of this hotel is the lack of soundproofing. The walls are extremely thin. You can hear normal conversations from neighboring rooms, people walking in the hallways, restroom noises, and even late-night disturbances. Unfortunately, we had a drunk couple arguing next door in the middle of the night, and there was zero sense of privacy. Even five floors up, we could hear club music and people in the alley below. The bed was fine, but the pillows were not very comfortable. The staff, however, was phenomenal. Front desk and housekeeping were consistently friendly, helpful, and professional. Easily the best part of the stay. The location is decent. It’s an easy walk to the Brooklyn Bridge and close to a subway station, which made getting around convenient. We only used the hotel bar. Drinks were great and the staff was friendly, but service during the day was very slow due to understaffing. We waited long enough that we ended up eating elsewhere. Overall, while the hotel looks great and has excellent staff, the noise level was a deal-breaker for us. Because of that, we wouldn’t stay here again or recommend it, especially if you value quiet and privacy.
