My stay at The Beekman was absolutely amazing. The hotel is beyond beautiful and has this special, unforgettable charm that makes the whole experience feel elevated. From the atmosphere to the design, everything is stunning. It is one of those places that truly blows you away the moment you walk in. We were celebrating our anniversary and received a complimentary upgrade to a corner suite, which was such a lovely surprise. The room was large for a New York hotel room and the interior sound proofing was great, although you can still hear some of the street noise. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and the complimentary doughnuts, coffee and apple cider were delicious. They also gave us two drink tickets for the historical first floor bar, which was such a fun touch and the cocktails were amazing. I highly recommend The Beekman if you want a stay that feels luxurious and memorable. The photo I am adding speaks for itself.

Location, on balance, is not great. It is out of the way and that back street where the hotel entrance is located is rather unpleasant and noisy (even from my room, which was otherwise pleasant in most aspects) The bar / lounge area at the grand floor is enjoyable in the evening but remains too dark during the day. It seems as if there is only one lighting level setting… Parts of the common area are starting to show age (this hotel must be 10 years old+ old now) and whilst the front desk team is rather welcoming, I didn’t find the service team in the bar / lounge area to be particularly hospitable… For me the vibe is a bit off in this establishment. PS: I had a great meal at Gratin, the Boulud restaurant connected to the hotel ground floor lounge, a year and a half ago. Not sure where it’s at now.

It's the worst hotel I've ever been, even comparing to 2 star hotels. Only book if you don't actually enjoy sleep. 1. Vacuuming between 12am-2am every night! 2. All street noises can be heard very well inside rooms - there is very little noise isolation, not even curtains. There is also construction nearby that is active even at 4am. 3. Maybe the atrium is nice looking, but only if you like listening restaurant noises untill midnight as room doors are into the atrium space.

Like many other reviews point out, the hotel operates a nightclub from the basement (yes really). We were assigned a room on the third floor and were kept awake until 4am by the pounding bass. After complaining to management we were given earplugs (again, yes really) and moved to a higher floor the next afternoon. After a 6 hour flight from SF to then get 2 hours sleep - the 3 day trip was essentially ruined by that first night. I won't be staying again. Management, if you read these - maybe don't operate a nightclub from the basement of an establishment where people go and expect to sleep?

Worse than poor experience staying here this past weekend. A week before our wedding, a staff member from The Beekman emailed me to ask if we would downgrade our suite, which we not only booked a year in advance, but also advised at the time of booking, and numerous times thereafter, that the reservation was for our wedding. The staff member cited an availability issue of one-bedroom corner suites in her email as the reason for asking the bride and groom to downgrade to a much smaller room.... We pushed back and did not agree to a downgrade considering we had hair, makeup, and photographers coming, so we were then incredibly disappointed when we arrived to the hotel for check-in and overheard another guest being offered an upgrade to a one-bedroom corner suit for a flat $150....?! I thought there was an availability issue? Clearly not. Meanwhile, we were stressed and anxious on the security of our room ahead of our wedding for no reason - not to mention we were lucky enough to pay a full $5K for this room, while someone else was offered a cheap upgrade right in front of us. Pretty crazy. Beyond that, the room smelled like sewage the entire time, and service was terrible at every level - would it hurt these HOSPITALITY employees to be hospitable? From slow check-in, to even slower service when anything is needed, especially housekeeping on my wedding day, which arrived more than an hour and a half after my request after calling downstairs to follow up no less than four times, the stay was abysmal in literally every way. AND, despite telling the clearly incompetent "Reservations Revenue Manager" that we were coming to the hotel for our wedding and would not be able to accept an offer for a smaller suite, there was NOTHING in the room upon arrival (e.g., bottle of champagne, flowers, even a congratulatory note) to congratulate us or apologize for the undue stress she caused. Marriott would never. Skip skip SKIP this hotel and give your business to literally any other luxury hotel, because if luxury is what you're looking for, you'll see it on your bill but not anywhere else in the stay.
