The Beekman is a beautiful hotel but our experience there was not as pleasant.
We spend over $600 a night to stay there and when we booked our room 2 months in advance, there was no indication that they would charge additional fees at checkout. When we checked out, they charged us around $50 (not sure of the exact amount cause we never got a receipt) for a “resort fee” or something like that. They never were upfront about the fee at booking, especially since it was almost 10% of the room rate.
Additionally, on all their platforms they displayed the restaurants as a perk of the hotel, but they do not let guess have first access to reservations. Since we booked the hotel 2 months in advance, reservations to the restaurants were not open yet. We waited till they opened them a month a head of time and still could not get a reservation.
Also displayed is the terrace, which was not accessible.
Definitely was not a 5 star experience and just felt like every other hotel stay.

My girlfriend and I came here for a romantic getaway weekend. We typically treat ourselves to a “five star hotel” 1-2 times per year and look forward to the guest experience and hospitality.
The building is really nice and absolutely gorgeous. It’s definitely worth checking out.
The service and guest experience was the furthest thing from a “5 star hotel”. We came back one day at 2pm and our room had been cleaned. We came back the next day at 3pm and they hadn’t touched our room yet. When we reached out they said they have until 6pm each day to clean your room.
The phone/internet was partially down so our TV and Netflix didn’t work at all. We had to text room service instead of calling and they would either respond immediately or take several hours. We had plans for a relaxing weekend with a movie night, which we ended up watching on a work laptop.
We went down to the restaurant/bar in the hotel and asked to sit at a table to have a drink. We were told we couldn’t sit at a table unless we were ordering food, despite being hotel guests and paying $500+ per night. This was in the middle of the day well before the dinner rush started. It was clear that being a guest at the hotel didn’t give us any sort of priority over the general public.
We ordered a warm chocolate cookie from the restaurant to take up to our room. The cookie was cold and rock hard and we didn’t even eat it.
We asked the concierge if he could reach out to a local bar we really wanted to try. He told us he would try but the only availability online was at 4pm. He told us he would reach out by phone when they opened and get back to me. Never heard from him again and we ended up calling the bar ourselves, who said they had walk ins available all night and we ended up waiting 10 min to get in. If we had relied on the concierge we would’ve assumed this wasn’t an option.
We got a breakfast menu for room service on the last day but didn’t receive one the other 2 days when we actually wanted to order breakfast to our room.
None of these would be a big deal on their own - no one is perfect. None of these would be a big deal if this wasn’t advertised as a 5 star hotel either. When you book a 5 star hotel and are paying top dollar, you don’t expect the guest experience to be a source of frustration that detracts from your trips enjoyment. It’s supposed to be the opposite. This is a very nice hotel and the quality of the actual building could be a 5 star experience, but the guest experience was far from it.

My issue here is that Beekman is falsely advertised as a 5-star hotel. If you are looking for a 5-star, putting hotel guests first experience, this is not it. The room service is slow (take several hours to respond), they don’t clean your room until 4pm (or later) the following day, there is no turn down service, etc. I am not sure why they list this hotel as a 5-star.
Additionally, please note it will be hard to enjoy a drink at the Bar Room since it is so busy and they do not prioritize hotel guests. The breakfast as Temple Court is mid. The historic hotel itself is beautiful, but as other reviews mention - it’s best to make a reservation and enjoy a drink here. I would not recommend eating or staying at this location.

I’m writing to provide feedback regarding a staff interaction during my stay on 2/13/26 ,around 12am. Earlier in the day, a staff member corrected me about seating, which I understood. However, later that evening at a club called Laissez Faire, the same employee approached me and asked, 'They let you in?' despite not being involved in entry or security. I was told that this employee in particular helps hotel guests find the club.
After I explained that I was a hotel guest, he stated that the hotel is not associated with the club and mentioned that sometimes people aren't let in. This was confusing, as the club is promoted on the hotel's website and entry staff had already confirmed my hotel key provided access.
The interaction felt unnecessary and came across as questioning my access after it had already been granted. I wanted to share this feedback to ensure guests aren't made to feel scrutinized without cause.

Maybe our expectations were too high, but our stay was somewhat disappointing, mainly due to guest service. The building is beautiful, the bar room is popular, and the hotel is dog-friendly — which is why we’re giving three stars.
However, the bar was so busy that it was hard to enjoy as a hotel guest. Over a December weekend, breakfast required a reservation and the only available time was 8:15 a.m. The staff was kind and the food was good, though. Room service counted toward the Globalist breakfast benefit, which was nice, but they forgot one item.
We were not offered a suite upgrade, even though one was available for an extra charge. Our room was clean but faced another building, so we kept the curtains closed.
Text-based guest services were inconsistent, and one room service request went unanswered for over 2.5 hours. There was also no evening turndown service during our two-night stay, despite it being listed online.
Valet parking was inconvenient, with no in-and-out privileges unless you pay the full overnight rate each time. Retrieving the car could take up to an hour so I recommend planning ahead of time. We also had duplicate bar charges on our folio — one was removed later, but not at checkout.
