Let me share some feedback about my extremely disappointing stay.
To start, I waited over an hour just to check in. I have never experienced a check-in delay like this. I am a Hilton Honors member and travel frequently for work, staying at Hilton properties around the world. This was far below the normal Hilton standard.
After finally checking in, I was sent to the wrong room. I booked two beds, yet was given a one-bedroom that was extremely dark, dingy, and unsettling. There was duct tape on the carpet, visible stains and rips, and a very dark hallway. As a woman traveling alone, I did not feel safe in this room — something I believe many women can relate to.
I then had to return to the lobby and wait again to be reassigned a room. While the second room had two beds, the condition was just as unacceptable. The wood floors were warped and lifting, as if there had been water damage underneath. There was pubic hair in the shower, visible water damage on the ceiling, and the waterfall shower head did not work. The chair was ripped, no complimentary water was provided, and the AC/fan was broken and would not shut off, making an extremely loud noise all night.
The following morning, when I attempted to get assistance, I was told the front desk “couldn’t help” and was instructed to go around the corner to call the manager. I am not exaggerating when I say this: I was directed to a large table with one old rotary phone in the middle, which supposedly connected me to the manager. The voicemail felt fake, and I have yet to receive any callback. Sending a guest to a phone like this instead of having a manager speak with them directly is unacceptable and felt like a complete joke.
This stay was unhygienic, uncomfortable, and poorly managed, and the lack of accountability afterward made it even worse. I checked out early because the conditions were unacceptable. This experience does not reflect Hilton standards in any way, and I would strongly caution others.

we travel a lot and come to NYC twice a year. We use a variety of hotels to experience different neighborhoods.
Honestly shocked by the poor customer service front the concierge desk. Do NOT expect Hilton staff here to go out of their way to be helpful.
I even voiced my disappointment to the concierge in the moment.
He acknowledged that and said’ “yeah, it is not good!” At least that made me laugh.
Still, at this price point, I suggest you stay elsewhere if service is important to you.
Noticed a GM response. Wonder if this is a chatbot or real person? Ask bc I was still there, so true service recovery could have been riled modeled by a leader. Also, the response is similar too all the others stretching over past 2 years. Future guests check out the service comments on google. There’s 1007 and 40% are negative!! Wish I had…I will for Hilton’s in future!

My stay at the Millennium Hilton New York One UN Plaza was honestly one of the most frustrating hotel experiences I’ve ever had, especially considering the price and the Hilton name.
From the start, there were problems with the room. The first room was boiling hot, with air conditioning that wasn’t working at all, and there was also a TV connection issue that staff couldn’t resolve. Because of this, I had to move rooms one night later at around 2 a.m., which is the last thing anyone wants to deal with while traveling.
Unfortunately, the second room wasn’t any better. The air conditioning barely worked and often felt completely non-functional. Engineering came up and told me there was nothing they could do due to ongoing construction affecting the building’s AC system. That is completely unacceptable for a hotel charging hundreds of dollars per night.
What made the experience even worse was the constant construction noise, especially considering this was during Christmas time. Every morning between 8–10 a.m., loud construction noise woke me up, making it impossible to rest. It did not feel like a vacation at all — it felt like staying inside a construction zone.
The staff responses throughout the stay were inconsistent and frustrating. One person would acknowledge the problems, while another would deny them or downplay them. I received conflicting explanations about whether other towers had working AC, whether relocation was possible, and what could realistically be done. There was no clear communication or accountability.
Between being forced to move rooms at 2 a.m., the lack of functioning air conditioning, and being woken up early every morning by construction noise, the entire stay was stressful instead of comfortable. I spent over $3,000 on this hotel, and the experience did not come close to justifying that cost.
For a property that relies on the Hilton brand and markets itself as a premium hotel in Midtown Manhattan, this experience was shocking. If a hotel is undergoing major construction and cannot guarantee basic comfort, guests should be clearly informed before booking, not after arrival.
This stay completely ruined my trip, and I would not recommend this hotel to anyone, especially during the holidays.
