Not worth the hype – especially if you’ve been to London!
Madame Tussauds New York was a big letdown for me. I’ve visited the London location before, and the difference is huge. The New York museum felt smaller, less impressive, and much more commercial. Some figures were okay, but many looked rushed and not very realistic.
Overall, it felt more like a quick photo opportunity than a well-curated experience. Considering the high ticket price, I expected much more. If you’ve never been to a Madame Tussauds before, you might enjoy it, but if you’ve seen the London one, this will likely disappoint.

We had such a wonderful time here! I am an NYC local, but I was curious to see if there had been improvements and it didn't disappoint. They really did some nice upgrading here and it was a much cleaner layout. There was virtually no wait, which was a plus for the busy holiday. I think the best addition was the horror section, as they really outdid them selves. The highlight was the exorcist, a photo that I posted with this. Someone really knocked this thing out of the park!! I also could see some work has gone into improving sculpts and overall the majority were terrific. It was nice to feel like a tourist for a bit without the tourist crowds. I don't do tourist spots much, but this is one I would recommend. The price of the ticket is well rewarded here and a wonderful way to kill some time!

The Madame Tussauds New York experience was much better than I expected – it was actually absolutely great!
From the moment I walked in, I was impressed by how realistic many of the wax figures looked. Some of the dolls are so lifelike that you almost feel like they’re real people standing next to you. It made taking photos really fun and a bit surreal.
The whole visit was engaging and entertaining, with plenty of different sections and lots of opportunities to interact and take pictures. I went in thinking it might be just “okay,” but I left genuinely impressed.
Overall, I really enjoyed my time at Madame Tussauds New York and would definitely recommend it, especially if you like taking photos and having a fun, unique experience in the city.

Madame Tussauds New York earns 4 stars. Nestled in the vibrant heart of Times Square at 234 W 42nd Street, this wax museum offers an immersive escape into celebrity culture amid the neon lights and towering billboards.
Stepping inside felt like crashing a star-studded party—no ropes or barriers keep you from high-fiving lifelike figures of icons like Taylor Swift, Cristiano Ronaldo, and President Donald Trump, surrounded by the buzz of Broadway theaters and nearby landmarks such as the New York Times Building.
The interactive zones, from Marvel superheroes to horror legends in the Warner Bros exhibit, captured the electric energy of Midtown Manhattan, making it a fun, photo-packed afternoon just blocks from Central Park and the Empire State Building.

We took our family to Madame Tussauds New York and had a really great experience overall. The museum itself was engaging from start to finish and kept both adults and kids interested the entire time. The Marvel 7D movie was a fun bonus and definitely added to the experience.
I especially want to shout out Zach, who ran the 4D game experience. He clearly takes a lot of pride in his job—his enthusiasm was contagious and genuinely got my wife and kids more involved and excited. Employees like him make a big difference and elevate the whole visit.
The only downside for us was the entrance process. The fast-track and general admission lines are right next to each other, which made things feel disorganized and a bit awkward—especially when it comes time to board the elevator and you’re clearly bypassing people who have been waiting. If fast track is offered (and costs more), there should be clearer separation or an employee actively organizing that area.
That said, we’d absolutely recommend this for families and would happily visit again. A solid 4 out of 5 experience overall.
