I am extremely disappointed with my experience regarding my reservation at M Social Times Square.
Due to the severe snowstorm in NY in the last days, all flights were cancelled and I was unable to travel to New York. This was completely beyond my control. Since then, I have been trying repeatedly to contact the hotel to discuss a possible refund or even just a date change. A simple postponement would not have cost the hotel anything, yet I have received absolutely no response.
What is most frustrating is not even the financial aspect, but the complete lack of communication. Ignoring customers and failing to respond to reasonable requests is simply unacceptable, especially for a hotel of this standing.
I expected much better customer service. Unfortunately, this experience has been extremely disappointing.
Originally checked into a room by the front desk which was quite obviously occupied and full of women’s clothing. I returned to the lobby and was checked into another room. Slept soundly for a night, left for all day meetings and returned to an unclean room. I thought that was odd since this was supposed to have daily housekeeping.
Woken up at 11:40p by the manager on duty, Nicole and security banging on the door checking to see who was in the room. Evidently instead of checking during the day, they decided to make rounds in the middle of the night.
Hotel needs to get its management act together.

I am extremely disappointed with my stay beginning February 15, which unfortunately took place during what was supposed to be a special birthday celebration.
Upon arrival, I waited approximately one hour past check-in time to receive my room. While inconvenient, I was initially understanding. However, when I entered the room to prepare for my birthday dinner, I was shocked to discover that the shower area had a strong odor of urine and/or mildew. There were visible old soap stains on the shower walls and noticeable mold present in the shower area, clearly indicating that the bathroom had not been properly cleaned or maintained.
I immediately contacted the front desk. After being told someone would come to assist, I waited about 30 minutes and no one arrived. When I called again, I overheard a staff member speaking dismissively and rudely in the background, stating that I would “have to wait,” implying there was nothing they could do. This level of unprofessionalism only made the situation worse.
I then went downstairs in person to address both the cleanliness issue and the staff conduct. Rather than offering to immediately inspect the room or resolve the issue, I was told housekeeping would look at it the following morning. I was offered a room change four floors down, but with my dinner reservation less than 40 minutes away, relocating was not realistic.
As a result, I was forced to wash up using the sink to avoid missing my birthday dinner reservation — an unacceptable situation at any hotel, especially for a special occasion.
The next day, a manager offered two complimentary drinks, breakfast, and a waiver of the $45 resort fee for two days (totaling $90). I accepted this in good faith to avoid further stress. However, upon checkout, I discovered that only one $45 resort fee had been waived, meaning the promised resolution was not fully honored.
Between the unsanitary bathroom conditions — including mold — the inability to properly use the shower, the dismissive staff response, and the failure to fully apply the agreed compensation, this experience fell far below acceptable hospitality standards. What should have been a memorable birthday stay was instead frustrating and deeply disappointing.
I would not recommend staying here based on this experience.

SCAM ALERT – False $500 Smoking Charge.
I do NOT recommend this hotel.
We stayed at M Social Hotel Times Square from March 8 to March 14, 2025. On March 12, we received a letter under our door accusing us of smoking in our room and charging us a $500 penalty fee.
This accusation was completely false.
There were two small children in our room a 4 year old and a 5 month old baby. No one in our group smokes. We explained this to the front desk, but they refused to listen and insisted their “sensor” proved smoking occurred. They provided no real evidence, only a generic printed chart that could easily be manipulated.
What makes this even more suspicious is that the time they claim the “smoking” happened does not match our reality at all. At that hour, we were already asleep because of our children’s schedule. Anyone traveling with a baby and a young child knows you are not awake late at night smoking in a hotel room.
We later found out that this is not the first time this hotel has done this to guests. They use smoke sensors to wrongfully charge people hundreds of dollars, knowing most travelers will not fight it after leaving the hotel. This feels like a systematic and unfair practice.
The worst part is their response:
They simply tell you to “call your bank for a refund”. That means they keep your money and push the problem onto you and your credit card company. That is unacceptable customer service.
Yes, the location is excellent, but the service is dishonest, unhelpful, and extremely poor. We were traveling with young children and were treated with no consideration or respect. This completely ruined our stay and caused unnecessary stress.
If you stay here, be very careful, you could be charged $500 without any real proof.
We will never stay here again.
