This a more than fine place to stay but the rooms and hotel property are average in every way. You stay here for the fantastic location. Close to a subway and tons of food options in a very safe area.
The rooms was adequate even if small but that’s Manhattan for you. The bed was extremely comfortable. The room could use an update, however.
The tv is small and old. The closet is bulky and inconveniently placed. There is no fridge or microwave. Controlling the heat and cooling wasn’t very good, either. And the shower spray came out on a slightly inconvenient way.
I know it sounds like I may be complaining but despite all that it was a perfectly fine place to stay. None of them were that bad. All could just be slightly better.
The elevator was fairly quick. The housekeeping wasn’t the best and the facilities like rugs, lobby and room decor could definitely be modernized but I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again. I come to NYC to enjoy the city, not sit in the room.
If you’re not super picky then you’ll enjoy this hotel. It’s a solid choice. No major issues. Overall 7.5/10

I’m fairly sure this place is racist.
I sent my 23 year old Guatemalan daughter to NYC with her elderly grandparents as a Christmas gift. I did not travel with them. At check in this is what happens.
1) She gets asked if her Amex is really hers by desk agent Ronald D.
2) He sends her to back of the line when card declined. Odd as she has a few thousand available credit.
3) She gets back to front. At this point I’m on phone with her. We talk he tells me she must pay FULL balance of stay upfront (that’s why her card declined). I’d already reserved the room at IHG and paid for first night to do it. Why? He has no explanation just policy. Then I say I will pay with different card. He says he will have to email the authorization. Hangs up without getting my email. Back of the line she goes again.
4) She gets to the front. I say he didn’t take my email. This time he says it must be a BUSINESS email address not my personal one. I have NEVER had to do any of this at any other hotel ever. I give my business email. Complete the authorization. Pay the ENTIRE ( about $3400) stay upfront. Now he’s polite. Offers her extra snacks.
Look he clearly thought we were some con artists or something. I can not imagine why. I could almost forgive that if he had not been completely obvious about it. He sent her through the line 3/4 times and just kept throwing up random road blocks. It was insane. You could not pay me to book at this property again. If a valley girl showed up with an Amex I doubt she’d have got the same treatment. So Hispanics beware. They have special “policy” for you.

The location is great, subway right around the corner and very close to Bryant park. The staff was excellent and friendly. The disappointing part was the room. The room itself is small (I get it's nYC) and the draws were all bubbly as if someone used them as an ice chest, the wall by the door was wallpapered over patch job, the wood was chipped on the bathroom barn door and a lot of the furniture, the headboards were all scratched up. Bathroom tiles broken but shower was hot so that's a plus. The hallway carpets are coming up and the elevators have issues (at one point we had to take stairway down bc elevator got stuck). I get that I stayed during the busiest time of year but the cost vs what we got is a little ridiculous. This hotel needs quality maintenance. We did not eat breakfast here. We are from NY so had to get my BEC or a bagel.

A decent hotel in a great location! Only a few minutes walk from Times Square as well as the Empire State Building. This is by far the better location between the other Holiday Inn’s in Manhattan. The rooms and overall hotel are little outdated but not disgusting. The breakfast buffet was well stocked and better than most other basic buffets. The most annoying part is that the A/C/Heat Unit couldn’t be controlled even though there was a remote in the bathroom to change it.

To preface my review, you are paying for the location if the cost seems heavy.
The stay I've had here was nice. Quick and friendly checking-in process. Since I stayed a week I needed to sign some forms for an extended stay but nothing out of the ordinary.
The rooms are a tad bit tiny, it being a Holiday Inn Express, but still was cozy enough for what was offered. Stayed with a friend as we shared a queen-sized bed and single restroom with a stand up shower.
Entertainment was minimal. TV with a few channels and free wifi. No complaints as my friend and I came for the city, itself.
Free breakfast included in my stay. Buffet style with various options of protein that swaps every day including sausage patties, sausages, scrambled eggs, turkey sausage, cheese omelettes and such. A few bread options I didn't bother with, cinnamon rolls, cereals, fruits, oatmeal, and a pancake machine. Yogurt and milk also in the buffet as well. The rooms to eat in were tiny so prepare to be a bit cramped when eating.
There are only two elevators so if you are bringing massive amounts of luggage be prepared to wait. There are also staircases.
A gym is included in the bottom floor. Didn't use it but seemed pretty decent for the type of hotel we chose.
Although pricey, I could stay here again if I needed to be around Manhattan for an event of some sort.
