want to start by saying the staff was very friendly, welcoming, and extremely helpful. Their hospitality and customer service skills were top-tier, and it truly made us feel comfortable despite the issues we experienced. Check-in was handled by the front desk rep Zay, who was amazing and very patient while assisting us. We had some confusion regarding parking, and he did everything he could to help. Parking is advertised at $100 a day after taxes, but we were not informed that if you move your vehicle at any time within that 24-hour period, you are charged an additional $100 every time you pull out. That should definitely be explained more clearly to guests, especially those traveling from out of state. The supervisor was very professional and accommodated us due to the misunderstanding, which we truly appreciated. We paid close to $2,000 for our stay, and at that price point, I expected more. The lobby is nice, but the online photos are very misleading they enhance the hotel’s appearance a lot. In person, the hotel looks completely different from what is shown online. The rooms are extremely small and outdated. I understand space is limited in New York, but the room size and conditions do not match the price being charged. The hotel definitely needs updates. Another major concern was the elevators. It honestly feels like a building code violation to have 32 floors and only 2 small elevators. During our stay, especially with the high New Year’s guest traffic volume, the elevators were overcrowded, slow, and frustrating to wait for. If you get on with a luggage cart, only 2 people can fit at a time, which made transporting luggage almost impossible without multiple trips. The wait time for elevators was extremely long, and this became a huge inconvenience.

We had a great stay at the Hampton Inn on 39th St. in New York. The staff was incredibly friendly, and we especially appreciated the kitchen staff and housekeeping, everyone truly made our stay feel warm and welcoming, almost like a home away from home. The complimentary coffee, tea, hot cocoa available throughout the day was a great touch, and the cookies left out (which may only be seasonal?) were a nice bonus. Breakfast was always delicious, and a special shoutout goes to the gentleman making the waffles, he truly made our mornings every day. His kindness and enthusiasm stood out, and he absolutely deserves recognition (and a promotion!). The rooms could use an update, but they are what you’d expect for New York City: smaller and on the higher-priced side, but thats nyc for you!!! The elevator sometimes didn’t work but was fixed quickly and it also helped being on the 4th floor to take the stairs. The staff made up for anything lacking, and overall we had a good stay. We truly appreciated how welcoming and attentive the entire staff was. We would stay here again.

Cesar (who works at breakfast area) was so so cheerful and helpful! Very friendly and went out of his way to help so many guests (including me). Jessica and Marwane also who were at the front desk were very helpful. The hotel itself needs to be upgraded but the staff was above average! Sakina ALK.

They tried to charge my mother extra charges during the check out process. The lady then proceeded with telling her that if she did not pay, she would not get her car back. My mother called the police and once the police showed up they took the extra charge off because it was a mistake on their end. My partner received our car key from the valet. He drove all the way home. Once we got home I informed him that when I gave my key for valet it had his copy and he let me know they only gave him one key. I called them on Sunday night and they sent me an email on Tuesday afternoon letting me know that I had to pay for shipping of my key. I called and let them know that it wasn't my fault that Valet decided to take my other key off and they stated that because they work with a third party valet, the Hampton inn will not be paying for shipping of my car key. I ended up paying for it and emailing them and I never got a reply back. Honestly, never again will we be staying here. The mirrors in the room had some sort of stain that we tried to take out and it didn't come out. There are only 2 elevators for both guest and service so if you have a baby with a stroller, you will be waiting about 10-15 minutes sometimes for the elevator. I am honestly very disappointed. I've stayed in other hotels before but never one so bad that I had to write a review.
