DO NOT STAY HERE! I booked a room for two nights at the EVEN Hotel New York - Midtown East by IHG in the summer of 2025. We arrived in the city late that afternoon ready to unwind, only to get a call from Mayisha that they overbooked the hotel and we were out a room. How do you overbook a hotel?
She politely said we could check for other hotels. Thanks! No problem in Manhattan at 6 pm.
The next day I got in touch and got them to refund my money after too long of a conversation. I asked since you put me out, how about a complimentary room later this year since I travel on business often. After numerous calls back and forth, they agreed to do so. I chose a night in November and assumed we were good.
I called back in October to confirm the November stay and guess what? No record of my name or confirmation number. I tried again several times as November approached and still no luck. Did they lie to me telling me they were comping a room for me in November? Sure looks like it.
I then contacted everyone at The Even and IHG to let them know what’s going on and no resolution whatsoever. We promised you a room, but never intended to provide one.
This is fine treatment for an IHG member who travels frequently, particularly to NYC.
Do not trust anyone you speak to at The Even or at IHG. Look at the Hilton or the Marriott for better service.

Microwaved food, Not friendly service, white colored sink water (only the shower is fresh), when prompted with the complaint I was met with straight criticism.
Only good thing is the location. Save your money.

I originally wrote a review of for a different experience. This edit reflects the EVEN Hotel. This spot is a hidden gem. It is located in a phenomenal area with everything you need, or want, close by. We flew in and took the tram from JFK to Grand Central station. This hotel is a 3 minute walk from there. It is nicely tucked away and you wouldn't guess how nice it is on the inside id you simply looked down the road.
Bar - happy hour prices are some of the best in the area with a bartender that is extremely friendly and knowledgeable when it comes to figuring out local eateries or experiences.
Rooms - the rooms are nicely sized with unique amenities. Our room came with some yoga mats, bands and yoga blocks. Great price for the location and amenities.
If you want you a nice place to escape from after a long day of going to random spots all across Manhattan then this the ideal spot.
10 out of 10 would recommend.

EVEN Hotel is clean, quiet, and perfectly functional, with good shower pressure, comfortable-enough beds, and plenty of outlets. The people who work here are polite but strictly transactional—fine, but nothing above the bare minimum you’d expect at a premium price point. Rooms and common areas look stylish at a glance, but the furnishings and amenities feel flimsy and decidedly midrange, more in line with a $200 hotel than one charging $650–$700+ a night.
The only real justification for the price is the location, which is genuinely convenient and walkable—but it’s not unique, and there are other hotels nearby that offer more for the money. Breakfast is especially bad and should be skipped entirely; it’s low-quality, poorly prepared, and not worth paying for. Overall, it’s a serviceable stay, but badly overpriced, and only makes sense if location outweighs value.

Good Hotel in a great location near to Grand Central so easy to travel about on the subway. Hotel is clean and room average size for New York and this price bracket. The Internet (WiFi) is excellent and the gym is basic but decent: peleton bikes, spin bikes and steppers plus treadmills with free weights and pulley machines. Staff were good as was housekeeping.
*it would have been an easy 4 stars except to arrive home to another charge of £152 for 7 night stay... Yes on top of the tourist tax this is the amenity charge / tax levied by the hotel at $25 per night plus I imagine tax 😂. They love taxes and tipping in the US. I saw the little sign on the desk as I checked in but on check out we were told everything was paid and no further charges then this dropped in. It would have been nice to just tell us on check out to save any ambiguity. Decent hotel I would probably stay again but factor in the 'amenity charge / tax'...
