The worst service & the worst room service food ever. Some of the staff here are completely unfit for this job. They seemed like people picked up off the street, with no understanding of what their responsibilities even were. I plan to file a formal complaint with the hotel and submit photos and names personally. They completely forgot my order, and when I went down to the restaurant to ask about it, they brought it out burnt (10:30pm, room service close at 10:30pm). The reason I went downstairs instead of calling was because the receptionist was extremely rude and unhelpful. I’ve never had such a bad hotel experience before. The rooms and facilities are nice, but the staff and service are a complete mess. I’m honestly very shocked. I genuinely wonder how this hotel’s reviews can possibly be over 4.5. Oh, and to add to that, it was bad luck from the very beginning. We were originally supposed to check in at 2:00 PM, but they told us that if we waited until 4:00 PM, they would give us a room with a better view. We agreed to wait, yet the room still wasn’t ready until after 5:00 PM. We couldn’t enter the room until past 5. It was complete nonsense.

A bit of a disappointment from the service end. It felt the hotel was consistently understaffed. The rooms themselves are nice, but I wouldn't rely on services from the hotel, go get breakfast at the nearby bagel store. They sat me at a table with opened jam jars (a health code violation in NYC), and when I complained about it, they took it away, when I asked for more, they said they were all out, so I just reached to the empty table next to me with a rack of full unopened jam jars. The folio had two breakfast charges at the same hour by two different servers on our last day, I would recommend you review your folio meticulously. When the manager and I spoke with the server, it turned out a different patron only signed their check without providing a room number, so the employee just put down any old room number from the waitlist. Leave ample time at check out for this reason. The front desk will tell you they can't help you, they will say they can't help you with this and direct you to the restaurant to dispute the charge. The roof top bar entrance has a sign that says 'wait to be seated' but don't be fooled, there is no host or service, guests leaving the establishment informed us this and that they too also waited for a prolonged period of time. Seat yourself and order at the bar. Also if you have a food & beverage credit, understand that it only applies to a single room. If you have 4 people staying in 2 rooms, you'll only get $50, which won't even cover the buffet, which is the only thing I'd recommend since having a server is a slow and painful affair. Had a whole lot of other service-related issued, but my summary is: stay in the rooms, don't utilize any service beyond that.

    1. The room size is smaller than the stated 40 square meters. 2. During check-in, we found that the toilet had not been flushed properly, and there were stains on the pillow. 3. Breakfast required queuing — for the first time ever. I have never experienced this before in my life. We have been waiting for over 30 minutes and still haven’t been able to get in; 4. We had already booked a room that included breakfast. However, from around 10:30 a.m., we were asked to wait until approximately 11:35 a.m. before being allowed to enter, even though it was obvious that there were many empty tables inside the restaurant. 5.After entering the restaurant, we were then informed that the buffet was no longer available after 11:30 a.m. If that was the case, why did you tell us to wait 20–30 minutes when we gave our room number while queuing? Why didn’t you inform us directly that there were no seats available or that the buffet service would have ended by the time we were seated?

Conrad New York Downtown is our forever NYC hotel. The rooms are spacious and spotless. The location is close enough to walk to major attractions, but just far enough to avoid the noise of the city when sleeping. The showers have an overhead option, strong water pressure, and maintain their water temperature. The views and decor are beyond impressive. The on-site dining is delectable. But the true distinguishing factor is Conrad’s superior customer service. When we arrived (12/2025), I was told that the room I’d booked was no longer available. This was not a great way to start the stay, but Shatima proceeded to put on a master class in customer experience. She asked me to step to the side with her, took full responsibility for the mistake (though I doubt it was hers), apologized, and shared what the hotel was prepared to do to make it right. And rather than state the remediation as a position, she made it clear that she wanted to know how I felt about it. When I asked for one other thing, she not only immediately agreed, but also went above and beyond what I’d asked for. This is the kind of treatment that inspires gratitude—even though it started with a mistake. Kudos to management for empowering Shatima to make things right, and to her for her professionalism and kindness. We cannot wait to return many, many times over the coming years and decades!

The rooms are a mixed bag. The shower is incredible. The beds are comfy including the pull out couch my kid slept on. The bathroom door is basically like a public restroom stall door with no lock on it. So if you got any kind of pee shyness this is a nogo. This is slightly and weirdly made up by the fact the lobby bathrooms are basically private rooms even though they are stalls. Its bizzare. Housekeeping is incredibly thorough and friendly. Front desk and all that kind of non existent. The location is great in my opinion. There is not a lot of noise even during the week of Christmas. It was almost a ghost town on the weekend before. Its a street over from walking through a mall to the oculus center and thus of course just about anything you need aside from quality eating locations. However exiting the farthest point of the oculus puts you in the finance district and just below China town so it's not a far walk to get to great spots. The oculus has 2 or 3 subways that have direct routes to times square and everywhere you want to go as a tourist making it an ideal spot in my opinion. Rooftop bar is probably the worst bar I've ever been too. We left after one drink. Bar tenders were rude, almost like they didn't want to serve drinks. One guy (there were only 4 of us in total, was like is the bar closed or what. Couldn't even blame him. He felt the need to apologize to us and tell us British people aren't always rude. I thought he was hilarious and right. If the bathroom thing doesn't bother you, then this is one of the best hotels you can choose for quick access, lots of stuff around for quick things, and also peace and quiet. Housekeeping top tier.
