So.... Somebody bought a presumably cheap piece of land in a run down part of Queens and plopped a Marriott and a Hilton down and started calling them "New York City" hotels, which, unless you're are familiar with the area, is misleading. This hotel is in Queens, and not a good part of Queens. I'm not saying anything about the people that live in the nearby apartment housing. This is strictly directed at all of the auto and taxi repair shops, the recycling facilities, the industrial facilities, the power plant... which surround the hotel. I personally walked around one night and didn't feel overly unsafe, just call it with heightened awareness. Then there is the hotel. The 'suites' aren't. They're just rooms with an extra long entrance hallway because the actual room is behind the elevator shaft. The lobby sort of reminded me of an elementary school cafeteria. There was literally a lone microwave sitting on a table next to a vending machine. The 'cafe' looked like a repurposed bar. The woman making coffees from the 'machine' was clearly sick but kept touching the cups and everything. And then there's the question of why a DoubleTree would be wheeling out dozens of Chinese labeled boxes from the basement. Is this just a front for an 'import/export' business? The men (exclusively) at the front desk were exceedingly nice but now that I think about it maybe they were too nice. Yes you can take the subway train to Manhattan (42nd Street) and that only costs $2.90 which I did and it is fine or you can get a rideshare across the bridge, and yes, during the day Queens has some fantastic parks and museums and restaurants and breweries. Just know what you're getting here before you go. And yes, I would stay here again just not in a 'suite'.

You get what you pay for with this hotel! The rooms were small and when we arrived there was no shower gel in the container, the following day we left a note very kindly to cleaners to kindly fill up the shower gel which they did not and instead left a toilet scrub brush on the side in a wing stop cup! The walls are very thing and can hear EVERYTHING (not great being woken up at 3am first night with jet lag and hearing next door having obnoxiously loud sex…and again at 7am) the shower water was either boiling hot or freezing cold and was hard to control!
The plus side is the do advertise good taxi rates with a flat fee to the airport and the hotel isn’t too far from a nearby subway

The location was great compared to its price. It’s only 3 stops away to the Central Park or Times Square, it’s a little far away to the F line subway though. The area does not feel very safe and NYPDs are always there. The room does not have a fridge, which is a little inconvenient. The room keeper always forgets to check if the body wash is filled, and forgets to replace the plastic bag for the ice container so it feels that they are not professional or may be not very responsible. It can be a little noisy in the morning as we stayed on the 2nd floor. With that said, I still recommend this place for its reasonable price.

I liked the hotel, the price is accessible to be a hilton and for the location, what I really don't understand is why the bathroom has 0 privacy! In this case I traveled with my dad, we stayed in the same room just 2 beds, the door was transparent which is crazy , even if you travel with your partner or kids you need your privacy in the bathroom! Idk why there is a new thing of not locks in the bathroom that is 1 thing but from there to a transparent door I couldn't even believe it !
The room was clean, the temperature was good, the rooms are very small but it was ok ..

UPDATE: Do not stay here unless you’re okay with a random man walking into your room unannounced.
A housekeeper walked into our room without knocking at the DoubleTree by Hilton Long Island City, saw my partner undressed, and lingered, staring. Unforgivable. Front desk apologized, but offered no solutions and general manager took 48+ hours to respond and basically swept it under the rug.
The General Manager acknowledged the unannounced entry but brushed it off as a simple “floor mix-up,” offered a “gesture of goodwill” that’s was ~$100, and repeatedly failed to provide supervisor contact information despite multiple requests. GM also ignored requests to preserve all relevant records related to the incident. I’ve had to escalate to Hilton Corporate because of the negligent and dismissive response to a serious privacy breach.
Bottom line: until Hilton addresses guest privacy and management accountability, choose another hotel. Our experience was unsafe, unsettling, poorly handled, and not what anyone should accept.
