- RRRedFeb 20, 20262.0I stayed here in Ithaca this week with my husband and two small children. The pool was nice, but we couldn’t use the bathtub because the drain plug wasn’t attached, so the tub wouldn’t hold water and on top of that, we had no hot water for a shower due to the steady stream of water leaking out of the faucet. After swimming, we were covered in chlorine and couldn’t bathe the kids or even shower properly. I reported it to the front desk that evening and again at checkout, and was told the hotel already knew about the leak. Really disappointing and a major inconvenience for our family trip.

I called and they confirmed the error and issued a refund, promising points for the inconvenience. Now a few months later with a similar issue at a different HI Express, I am thoroughly reviewing my stay records and points transactions and I see that this location failed to follow up and issue the points they stated would be compensation for having to call for a refund. Given that this has happened at two locations in a three month period, I am wondering if this is really general incompetence or a new type of scam. I suggest checking your receipt as you leave (most will no longer slide under the door).

The hotel is located at the entrance to the city, so there isn’t much to do within walking distance and you need to drive to most places. But after a long journey from JFK, the location was perfect for us - quiet, convenient, and easy to reach. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would happily return.
