I am exceedingly disappointed that a group of 21 African American guests at The George Manhattan, located in Harlem, NY would experience racist bigotry during our visit. The hotel's checking staff and management were indifferent to the needs of our group, and after 7 hours (9:00 AM to 3:10 PM) of sleeping in the hotel's second-floor lounge and seeing every other guest (who were either White or Asian) ushered to their rooms, responded with hostility to my demand that we be placed in our rooms (which took only 15 minutes to do so). After a complaint to the Hilton Honors, the hotel manager asked me to meet him in person in the second-floor lounge, where he then profusely apologized for the situation and offered to compensate me with points added to my Hilton Honors account and an upgrade of my room (both of which I refused). The following morning I was approached by the sales manager, who accused me of disruptive behavior and informed me of recordings taken by the staff. I am so sorry to see that the gentrification of Harlem equates to African Americans being served in a manner that would discourage their return to the region.

The George hotel was very nice. Brand new, clean, all the tech things you would expect. I would rate it 4.6. The people working were nice. There is a bar and coffee. There is not a restaurant on site. Was only there briefly, but we walked a few blocks to go to a nice Italian restaurant for dinner. The neighborhood seems pretty safe.

We loved our stay here! We got everything we needed for our trip. We had a king size room! The showers were very nice and for the price you pay it’s exactly what you need for a short trip. The location is a bit further away from all the tourist spots but the subway solves that issue very easily! Would highly recommend. The hotel is as a whole is very nice as well

The rooms were lovely, VERY clean, and as quiet as anyone can ever get in NYC!!! The price was absolutely amazing, I won't be staying anywhere else when I come to NYC in the future.
It's right off the C line from Penn Station, so I could take the subway from there after taking the Amtrak into the city.
Emmanuel at the little coffee bar in the hotel was a lifesaver and made delicious lattes and was so kind to my family and young nephew. The entire staff was magnificent - genuinely the highlight of the stay, including the valet folks connected to the hotel. Ildris (spelling?) at the front desk made a long-term stay comfortable and went above and beyond to help us.
Additionally, there are loads of food options around, Sipsteria was my favorite for a cafe and Charles Pan Fried Chicken holds my brother's heart. We were in walking distance to jazz bars, theaters, and anything you could want. 12/10 fantastic

Very bad experience with The George at Columbia. A friend sent an Oura Ring to the front desk via Uber, wrapped in a brown bag with my name on it so I could pick it up later. On two different occasions, we were told that nothing had arrived under my name. It wasn’t until the third call that the item suddenly “appeared.”
When my friend went to the lobby to pick it up, the bag had been opened, which is completely unacceptable and creates serious distrust about how guests’ belongings are handled.
To make things worse, the man at the front desk was rude, dismissive, and showed zero interest in helping or explaining what happened. A hotel should have clear protocols for handling personal items and, above all, provide respectful customer service. Very disappointing experience.
