We got married at The Lake House on Canandaigua, and it was truly one of the best decisions we made. From start to finish, the experience was exceptional. The property itself is stunning, impeccably clean, and thoughtfully designed. The food was outstanding, the vibes were immaculate, and every single interaction we had felt intentional and warm. From valet to the chefs to the service staff, everyone was genuinely kind, professional, and invested in making the experience special. A huge reason our wedding was so seamless and joyful was Jojo. She was an absolute asset throughout the entire planning process. Professional, organized, calm under pressure, and somehow also felt like our best friend through it all. She went above and beyond at every step and made us feel supported, heard, and genuinely cared for. There is a reason The Lake House is consistently voted one of the best lake resorts in the country, and in our experience, it comes down to the people. The level of care, pride, and hospitality here is rare. We couldn’t recommend The Lake House on Canandaigua more highly, whether for a wedding, a weekend getaway, or a special celebration.

I attended the New Year Wellness Retreat in the barn and had a beautiful experience. The scenery and setting was perfect for being able to take a deep dive inward. The women who guided the event were very welcoming, knowledgeable, educated and there for each and every person that attended. These women embodied peace and reflection. Thank you Lake House for making this event happen! Please have more!!!! I would like to bring all my friends!

On September 27th, 2025, we traveled by plane from far away to attend the wedding of our good friends. They invited us to stay at the same hotel where the wedding would be held for our convenience. But we are extremely disappointed with the service at the front desk. We stayed here for a wedding being held at the property and arrived early hoping for assistance getting into our room to prepare. We explained to the Receptionist that we had spoken with customer service and they were glad to help us. We understand that early check-in is not always guaranteed, but the refusal to even try—combined with the rude tone, dismissive, and showed zero interest in helping us, was completely unprofessional for a hospitality business. There was no effort to check room status or offer a temporary space to change. This lack of basic hospitality significantly added to the stress of the day. Only 30 minutes before the event, when my husband demanded to speak with the manager, she went to another room and when she returned, she gave us the room key. A hotel that hosts major events, the front-desk staff should be trained in professional service. Also a bad review for the Wedding Planner, we understand the pressure that she was under, but it doesn't justify yelling to us for being late to the ceremony. Thank you for the excellent service to the doorman, the waitresses at the breakfast restaurant, and the gentleman who was at the reception desk in the morning of our chekout. I would not recommend staying here if you are attending an event on-site.

I stayed at the Lake House in November with a friend and had a lovely time. Based on that experience—and the hotel’s promotion of daily kids’ activities—I was excited to return with my entire family. Otherwise, I would not have chosen this as a destination for children. Unfortunately, we were incredibly disappointed. The kids’ offerings were minimal to nearly nonexistent. The pool was indefinitely closed, which was not mentioned anywhere on the website or posted in the hotel. We only found out after getting our two young children into bathing suits and heading outside in the cold. The hot tub was also closed for most of the day on Monday. While that may have been beyond the hotel’s control, again, there was no advance notice—you only discover this once you’re already out there. At breakfast, we were told there was no kids’ menu, despite the website stating that kids eat free all week. Staff then claimed this applied only to a specific package, even though the information appears in multiple places online. Even then, we were charged for “s’mores waffles,” though the kids only received plain mini waffles. Had we known, we would have ordered the s’mores waffles. The advertised kids club of “exciting games and crafts” was simply coloring. Family yoga lasted barely 20 minutes and was led by someone who clearly did not enjoy working with children. There was also a post made about an ice skating rink, only for us to learn it was from last year. The hotel itself is lovely, but it is not family- or child-friendly. Ultimately, we did almost exactly what we could have done at home—with the added discomfort of feeling embarrassed when our kids acted like kids around adults who clearly did not want them there.

Overall, we had a pleasant stay and found the property to be very lovely and charming. The Christmas decor made it feel especially cozy, and the staff were friendly throughout our visit. We really enjoyed the games in the library as well as the morning stretching and meditation class. However, there were a few disappointments: - We booked a couples massage, which was $50 more than booking two individual massages. There was nothing unique about the room or experience to justify the added cost. - The “sauna included with spa bookings” felt misleading. Based on photos and social media, we expected complimentary access to the barrel sauna, but instead it was a small sauna on the side of the building. - The Rose Tavern was quite pricey, particularly for breakfast, which consisted of small portions of very basic items (eggs, toast, etc.). - The heated outdoor pool was not open, despite being advertised on the website and in recent social media posts as “year round” (not a huge issue as we did make use of the hot tub - but just worth noting) - Our winter getaway package included a complimentary room upgrade, subject to availability. I don’t believe we received an upgrade, and given how quiet the property was on a Monday/Tuesday, it was difficult to understand how availability was an issue. - The room layout of the bed/tv was awkward. When two of us were in bed watching tv, one person would be staring directly at the post of the bed in the middle of the tv. Overall, it was a nice stay, but several aspects didn’t meet expectations based on the marketing and package details.
