I really hate to give a public 1-star review, but I informed the front desk of our issues multiple times during our stay and at check out, as well as our booking agent who both said they would "pass our concerns on to management and sales team" and we have heard nothing from anyone.
I booked this hotel for my wedding block and the Large King suite for my bridal suite. My guests seemed happy with their stays, but our room was not as expected.
When we checked into the room at 3PM, the bedroom area in the suite had a heavy scent of cleaner and a slightly sour smell, but I couldn't quite place it and just thought it was part of the cleaning products. We then left almost immediately for our rehearsal and rehearsal dinner. I returned around 10:30 PM and the bedroom area smelled horribly of vomit. I understand that it is one of those messes that is very difficult to clean, especially from carpet or fabric. I went to the front desk to ask if there was another suite available I could move to, and the only other room available was a king suite, but that would not be big enough for my bridal party to get ready in the morning.
They did send the overnight maintenance person up with a carpet cleaner, and he spent a good amount of time re-cleaning the carpet as best he could. (He was wonderful by the way, he deserves a raise). This helped significantly, but through the night I could still smell traces of it. By mid morning, I had to close the door to the bedroom because the smell was strong enough to be noticed in the living area where we were getting ready, and I had no way to air out the room since none of the windows opened (I know for safety the windows can't have larger openings, but ventilation windows would have been appreciated). I did not have time on the wedding day to have the carpet cleaned again, and returned to the room around 12:30 AM with my husband. The smell was so bad that we were unable to sleep in the bedroom and ended up sleeping on the pull out couch. This was obviously not the most ideal scenario on our wedding night, and I'm quite disappointed that we were only able to utilize half of this suite during our stay.
If I were to nitpick, I'd say that the details in the room also disappointed me for the cost and experience I was expecting when booking such a large suite. The tissues were very low quality and rough, which I normally wouldn't comment on but given the occasion I was crying quite a bit (happy of course). There was no tea in the room (and also no herbal tea available in the lobby, only caffeinated). The desk lamp was not turning on, and upon checking to see if it was plugged in I found it was plugged into an old and concerning looking power strip which was plugged into an extension cord (against fire code) shoved behind the desk which had no available outlet to plug into at the wall. I ended up having to unplug the living room TV to safely plug in the lamp. I also noticed there was no pen and paper available at the desk by the phone, which may be an outdated thing to expect but I did need it during the day and didn't have it.
I had a very pleasant and comfortable stay at Hampton Inn & Suites Buffalo, and it exceeded expectations in several important ways.
From the moment I arrived, check-in was smooth and welcoming. The front desk staff were friendly, professional, and genuinely helpful—exactly what you want after a long drive or travel day. Everything felt organized and efficient, which immediately set a positive tone for the stay.
The room itself was clean, spacious, and thoughtfully laid out. The bed was very comfortable, linens were fresh, and the room felt quiet and well insulated, making it easy to get a good night’s rest. I really appreciated the attention to cleanliness throughout—not just in the room, but in the hallways and common areas as well. The bathroom was spotless, with good water pressure and quality toiletries.
Breakfast was another highlight. The complimentary morning spread was well stocked and offered a solid variety—hot items, waffles, eggs, pastries, fruit, yogurt, and coffee. Everything was replenished regularly, and the breakfast area stayed clean even during busy hours. It felt like a proper, well-managed breakfast rather than a rushed afterthought.
The hotel’s location is also very convenient, especially if you’re visiting Buffalo for shopping, business, or as a stopover near the border. Parking was easy and hassle-free, which is always a plus. The overall atmosphere of the hotel felt calm, safe, and well maintained.
What stood out most was the consistency—this location delivers exactly what you hope for from Hampton Inn: comfort, cleanliness, reliability, and friendly service. No unnecessary luxury, just everything done right.
Overall, I would absolutely recommend Hampton Inn & Suites Buffalo to anyone looking for a dependable, comfortable stay. Whether you’re traveling with family, on a business trip, or just passing through, this hotel offers excellent value and a stress-free experience. I’d happily stay here again on my next visit to Buffalo.
