The room size is small but not unexpected for NYC. Overall the room was clean, but we did have some hiccups with our stay. 1- the HVAC unit seemed to randomly switch between heating and AC, so some days it would be really cold or others really hot with no real way to choose one way or another. 2- the bed sheets / comforter seemed to be some kind of polyester blend that made us VERY hot while we slept. I live nearby and ended up just bringing a comforter from home to sleep with because the hotel one was way too hot to sleep with. 3- at some point in the stay the window blind chain snapped, which should be an easy fix. We told front desk the same day but they did not fix it at all during the rest of our stay. This meant we had to leave the blinds down for effectively the rest of our stay (3 days) The location is great, and noise isolation from the train is also good, but honestly with the HVAC issues, the polyester comforter, and the sub par response with regards to the blinds i wouldn’t be staying here again. I’d much rather spend a little extra and get a nicer place than stay here again

Hotel is a failure in the IHG portfolio. Despite having a confirmed reservation made weeks in advance, the hotel refused to let me check in. Their reason was that my friend — who used his loyalty points to book the room for me — had to be physically present. I have stayed at countless IGH hotels around the world on points bookings made the exact same way, including another NYC property just one week earlier, and I have never encountered this issue. This was the only hotel that chose to enforce this policy so rigidly. What made the situation even worse was the manager’s attitude. He acknowledged that he could make an exception but simply chose not to. There was no attempt to help, no willingness to find a solution, and no sense of hospitality. Because of this refusal, we were forced to book another hotel last minute — at a significantly higher cost. The whole experience left me with the strong impression that the hotel preferred to resell the room at a higher cash rate rather than honor a points booking. The lack of professionalism and basic customer care was shocking.

My parents stayed at voco Astoria during the holidays, and I was truly impressed with how wonderful their experience was. The hotel is very convenient, especially when family comes to visit and travel during the holidays. They had only great things to say about their stay. I want to especially mention Shobha at the front desk my parents said she was incredibly loving, helpful, and made their stay even more delightful. Yesterday, I also got a chance to meet her in person, and she was absolutely amazing. The hotel also has great amenities like a gym and a water dispenser, which made the stay even more comfortable and convenient. Overall, voco Astoria is a fantastic place to stay, and I highly recommend it. We will definitely choose this hotel again for future visits!

Great location to explore New York City and around, Public transportation just outside the hotel. Lots of restaurants and cafes around. The team at the hotel is exceptionally helpful and provides great guidance considering it was our first time in NYC, and we had our luggage delayed from Dubai they made us very comfortable providing recommendations to buy stuff to go through until we received our luggage. A big shout out to Alex, Shaun and Sapna to make our visit to NYC a real memorable visit.

The hotel was a great location minutes from the Subway and the room was nice. Staffing was polite, however the reason I give it a 1 star is because of my experience. I booked through booking.com and I was charged AGAIN by the hotel an amount of $862. When I checked in I let the front desk concierge know why was I charged twice when I prepaid through booking.com and she said it was a mistake that someone charged me but “refunded” the amount to wait 7-10 BUSINESS DAYS. I was very patient, when I checked out I asked again for confirmation to ensure the refund was processed. I called on Dec 12th, Friday making it the “10th business day” and I was still told it’s nothing they could do, that I still have to wait. I called the hotel again today, Dec 18th and was told again that I still have to wait and that it’s an error on my bank. I let the person know I never had any issues with refunds before where it takes longer than 10 business days. I decided to finally call my bank today and the representative said yeah no, that it was the hotel. My bank help me open up a case and now I have to dispute it which can take up to another 10 business days. This is ridiculous. No sense of urgency to get this resolved as its not a small amount of $20 it’s a large amount.
