Under no circumstances should you stay at this hotel if you plan on a convenient ski experience.
TLDR: the service people are trying their best but management needs to get their priorities right and fix the amenities that are explicitly advertised.
Selected this location explicitly because of the heavily advertised skier express and “convenient shuttle service”. The skier express funicular/gondola worked for exactly 2 hours, then broke for the duration of my stay. Understood. Things break. Went to the backup system of using a shuttle, but was also told one of the shuttles was broken. Down to one shuttle for the entire resort to bring people to the lift lines
Brian and the rest of the shuttle drivers were amazing. Trying everything they could do to get people to the lifts, but wait times were often 30min to an hour or longer, as the shuttles had to drive a 15min loop, and there were not enough seats on the shuttle.
I inquired about partial compensation, or at least a points, or even a food/bev credit since I only selected the hotel for the convenience of the skiing amenities, and I was told by management “sorry unfortunately we don’t do that”… even though the advertised amenity was not working. Even though management didn’t have a plan for more shuttles. Even though they weren’t paying their shuttle drivers enough to attract another shuttle driver.
I am a loyal IHG platinum member, as well as a Hilton diamond member. I could have stayed at a Hilton property for free on points if I wanted to take a shuttle or drive to the mountain, but I gave IHG a chance due to the advertised amenities and convenience for skiing.
For reference, I once had a slightly malfunctioning A/C unit at a Hampton inn (Hilton property) and without even asking, they comped the entire stay by issuing me a refund to my method of payment.
THIS HOTEL IS ANYTHING BUT CONVENIENT. MANAGEMENT DOES NOT CARE ABOUT THE GUEST EXPERIENCE. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. STAY AT A HILTON OR MARRIOTT PROPERTY.

Honestly the absolute worst Tahoe accomodations you can find. Spare yourselves the ruined vacation and I'll elaborate. We stayed at the Cascade building:
- we got a unit with no heating. In the winter. They sent a technician that checked a few things and left. Only after I asked about it again and again they sent them again. But provided no update. I had to chase them for any information but still I don't know what's going on and when heating will be fixed in the unit. When asked to move to a different unit but they told us its impossible because the booking was done through Airbnb (it wasn't. It was booked via Expedia and I'll attach a photo to prove it).
- outdated, crude units.
- trash and filth everywhere - vomit in the laundry room, open trash bags in the trash shute room, some random trash on the floor.
- parking is limited - if you're coming back after 7pm be prepared to look for parking somewhere outside and also to your building in the cold.
Most things in the list above are understandable - you get what you pay for, but a unit with no heating in the middle of Tahoe winter and without providing any kind of solution or information is unacceptable.
We are cutting our stay short and moving to a different resort/hotel even if they don't refund the remaining portion of the stay. This place is disgusting.
I strongly advise to look elsewhere.

We are owners at Holiday Inn Vacations Club Tahoe Ridge and pay annual maintenance fees, which makes this experience especially unacceptable. Our stay from December 22–27, 2025 was filled with serious issues that completely ruined our family’s only vacation of the year.
For two days of our stay—including Christmas Day—we had no hot water and no heat in our unit. We had to wear coats inside just to stay warm. We were never proactively informed that we could shower in another building; we only learned this after calling the front desk ourselves. No space heater or temporary solution was offered.
The conditions in the building were also poor. Trash was piling up due to a broken trash chute, and the clothes dryer failed to dry our clothes after three full cycles, leaving some of our ski clothing damp and uncomfortable to wear the next day.
The most concerning issue occurred on our final night when one of our tire chains was stolen from our car in the parking garage. These chains had been purchased the day before and were essential for safely driving down the mountain. We were shocked to learn there are no security cameras in the garage. Security told us we could file a report but also stated there was little they could do—no replacement chains, no escort, no meaningful assistance—leaving our family of five genuinely concerned about our safety getting to the airport.
As owners, we expect far better. As human beings, we expect that the safety and well-being of guests—especially families—are taken seriously. This stay fell far below acceptable standards and reflects poorly on the management of this property.
Until these issues are addressed, we cannot recommend Tahoe Ridge and are deeply disappointed that a property we own at delivered such a poor and stressful experience.

There were only 2/5 functioning dryers in the Terrace building on a day that had been pouring sleet and snow which is absolutely ridiculous. People ended up behaving like college students and taking out laundry to dry their own. Even if we were to have called them about the broken dryers, no one would have picked up. They appeared to be unprepared for the high influx of visitors for holiday season and did not have enough staff over the holiday period as seen by the out of service dryers, broken fireplaces, and unanswered front desk service phone calls. Shuttle service was not working for over one hour on the day the Stagecoach lift was open. Management clearly does not organize or hire enough staff for consistent shuttle service. After being bought by Holiday Inn, the Ridge has been decreasing in quality yearly which is a sad sight to see despite the staff (bistro, shuttle drivers, activities guides, custodial, housekeeping) who are friendly and great. I can only point towards poor administration and management.
