- BTBruce TolleyJan 22, 20265.0I stayed at the HIE, Minden twice in January 2026. The front desk staff is friendly and professional. When I was seeking recommendations for dinner, they talked about their favorite restaurants, and offered to show me menus online. The room was well appointed and very clean. Given that it was winter, the heater and the thermostat worked very well. Some hotels in this class skimp on the bed linens, but the comforter was of moderate thickness. The whole property appeared to be immaculately maintained. There is an excellent indoor pool, and a very nice hot tub. Breakfast was very good. The Costa push button coffee maker is an improvement over the stale coffee in an urn. The large bowl of fresh fruit is also a nice touch. I have stayed at many Holiday Inn Express hotels up and down California on Interstate 5, Highway101, etc. over the years when traveling for business or holiday. I have to say this is one of the best.

It was quiet, the room was clean & prefect temperature. The jacuzzi was very nice after skiing the 3rd day. Breakfast was good - egg omelets, potatoes, biscuits & gravy with a different protein every day: pork sausages one day, bacon another, sausage link another day. Coffee was good - it was a made to order machine. All in all it was a great visit!
