Not in great shape. Didn’t get the same warm welcome you usually get from a Hilton property.

There’s a saying going around that’s really stuck with me recently, especially after deciding to stay at the Hampton Hotel in Mesquite instead of just camping near the outdoor destinations we planned to visit: “Import the third world, become the third world.” After opening the door of the first room we were put in, a cataclysmic whiff of toxic fake fruit carpet cleaner (that is probably legal only in America and Mexico) made my entire family’s eyes and nose water. It was so strong you could taste it. The worst part was the rotting smell it was obviously trying to cover up. The front-desk woman was nice enough and put us in a different room, where only the front area reeked like industrial cleaning products. Turning on the half-broken AC helped a little bit, when it worked. One of the reasons one even stays at a hotel is because unlike many AIRBNBs, which so often reek like Tide detergent and generic Lysol, it’s supposed to smell clean, I.e. not like anything! I don’t know if the disgusting state of these hotel rooms is due to massive corporations underpaying staff so miserably that they can’t be bothered to clean mold off of showers or suspicious stains from bathroom trash cans or floors, general incompetence of cleaners who maybe should have never been hired in the first place, or whatever, but this hotel is disgusting. The bathroom smelled like a rotten kitchen drain with five year old food stuck to it, and the shower’s water pressure can only be described as getting peed on by the ancient toy poodles who barked and whined all night in the room next door. If you’ve just arrived off the bus from the slums of New Delhi, this Hampton might seem like a wonderful place to stay. For those of us who are used to basic standards of hygiene and the eradication of disease through basic indoor cleanliness and safe flushing toilets (by the way, the toilets here didn’t flush properly), I recommend just camping or driving a few hours to Caliente, NV, where you can stay at the immaculately clean and functional Shady Motel. Avoid this place like the plague, literally, it might be a hot bed for the next one.

Upon check in to room saw that the first floor window did not lock in our room. I brought this to the attention of the front staff, after we arrived. Took about 30 minutes for maintenance to come in and install a temporary window lock that did not lock the window but went into the window track. Maintenance person is very nice and very prompt once arrived. The next morning the toilet stopped working as well. The room was pretty gross to start, the shower looks gross there was dog hair on the corners of the wall and dog hair all over the floor and doors . If there were more options around for places to stay and we weren't so limited on time and not wanting to move we would have gone to a different hotel, however, since we are now here we will stay, but not return. Also, the breakfast provided leaves a LOT to be desired. Mainly in the form of empty juices on the juice dispenser, powdered looking eggs, and lack of bagels, plastic utensils, etc. I think hotels like this would be better off not advertising that they have a breakfast provided , it's definitely not a breakfast it's a lot of cheap things in very small quantity.

Checked in on the mobile app and had nothing but problems and the girl at the front desk was completely unhelpful and just rude. She couldn’t care less about it being an issue. Asked to talk to the manager and was told no I already checked with my manager and this is the way it is. Then the pool and hot tub were closed no previous communication of it and no mention of it on the website. We were actually on our way to the pool when again the girl at the front told us it was closed from across the lobby. Again could not care less about the people staying. When I asked when it would be open she would not even look at me and just repeated it was closed. On our way back to the room ran into 2 other groups headed to the pool that had no idea it was closed either. Definitely a lack of communication with people staying. The room was at least pretty good but there was hair in the shower before we had even used it.
