Potentially Great, But Significant Room for Improvement
As a frequent traveler and Hilton Gold member who has stayed in Hilton properties across 20+ countries, I approached the Virgin Hotel (part of Curio Collection) with high expectations. The property has fantastic bones, but our stay highlighted systemic issues in policy communication, facility access, and staff service consistency that management must address.
The Good (Great Potential):
The rooms are genuinely lovely—large, clean, and modern, offering a great space to relax. The hotel facilities themselves are well-kept, and the complex offers multiple appealing food outlets. The location is ideal: close enough to easily access the Strip, but removed enough to feel separate and avoid constant traffic fights. The free, large-garage on-site parking is a major plus in Vegas. We were also grateful for a room upgrade.
Areas for Major Improvement:
1. Poor Policy Communication & Management Response (Pools):
Booking via the Hilton website gave zero indication that the resort's pools are closed from November through April. During our late November stay, temperatures were hitting 26°C (79°F). Only one "bathtub-sized" pool was open for limited hours (11 am-4 pm). This contrasts sharply with many other Las Vegas hotels that keep larger outdoor pools heated and operational in November.
When this was raised with management via email, the first response was dismissive ("this is our policy, deal with it"). A follow-up yielded a slightly better tone, but it still felt like the core issue—failure to notify guests of a major amenity closure—was not truly understood or addressed.
2. Maintenance and Follow-up Failure:
Our room had a smoke/vape detector that was constantly rattling and noisy. We raised a request the first day. Engineering came, claimed it wasn't their issue, and left. We went back to reception, who promised to deal with it, but we never received a follow-up call, and the detector was never fixed during our stay.
3. Inconsistent and Unhelpful Service:
While most staff members were great, there were two interactions that were very poor:
• Late Checkout: When asking for a late checkout, a front desk employee abruptly said, "No, we don't offer this." When I politely noted my Hilton Gold status, the staff member became rude, forcing me to walk away.
• Checkout: The checkout process was entirely transactional, with no "How was your stay?" or any apology when I raised the ongoing issues.
4. Logistical Failures at Check-in:
After traveling for four weeks with 3-4 heavy bags, we pulled up to the main entrance and asked the attendant if we could quickly unload. We were told, "No, go park up in the garage." The parking garage is a significant walk (6 minutes minimum) from the lobby/elevators, and there was no bell service, staff assistance, or clear direction to the reception area. This was an unnecessarily stressful welcome.
5. Hilton Benefit Delivery:
The VIP check-in area was poorly signposted, and no staff directed us to it. Furthermore, while the credit benefit is provided, it’s severely limited in its utility, as many acceptable outlets were closed for half the day.
Conclusion:
The Virgin Hotel is a beautiful property with fantastic potential. However, operational consistency, transparent communication regarding facility closures, better maintenance follow-up, and front-line staff training on customer service (especially for elite members) need urgent attention before this can be considered a truly top-tier Las Vegas offering. I could go on, but in short this does not live up to the Hilton/Virgin brand.

We recently stayed at the Virgin Hotel and, although we don’t usually leave reviews, the level of service during our stay compelled us to share our experience.
From the moment we arrived, the service was disappointing. The man who checked us in was noticeably rude and offered no information about the resort, including pool access or how to use any of the facilities.
We chose this hotel because we were getting married in Las Vegas and also celebrating my birthday. Prior to our stay, I emailed twice and called to request cutlery for our cakes. My emails were never answered, and when I called, I was transferred to the kitchen and told to call back later, which happened twice before I eventually gave up. On the day of, my husband went to the front desk to ask about getting plates and cutlery, but he was met with another rude response and no assistance. We weren’t upset about the lack of plates, since we understand not all hotels provide them, but the attitude, along with not even a simple “congratulations” or “happy birthday,” made it feel like the staff were tired and indifferent to the quality of service.
The room itself was somewhat clean, but it was obvious the main area hadn’t been fully vacuumed. We also discovered that the bed sheets were the wrong size. The building feels quite old, and while Virgin has tried to modernize it, the infrastructure needs work. Our room had no soundproofing, and the AC unit was extremely loud and seemed to struggle, allowing the room to get uncomfortably hot before kicking in.
On a positive note, the hotel is within walking distance of the Strip, where we spent most of our time enjoying other resorts with much friendlier and more helpful staff. We also want to acknowledge the team at the convenience store within the resort, as they were incredibly kind and helpful, which aligned more with the welcoming experience we had throughout Las Vegas outside of the Virgin Hotel.
Overall, based on our experience, we do not recommend staying at this hotel.

After several stays, Virgin Las Vegas has become our go to resort in the city. The location is ideal. The airport is a quick and inexpensive Uber ride so you skip the usual Strip traffic and construction headaches. It is also pleasantly quiet and does not have all the noise of the Strip. You are still close enough to walk or take a short cab to the Strip when you want it, but there is so much on property that you may not feel the need to leave.
Rooms are spacious, spotless, and full of modern flair. Clean lines, bold art, and thoughtful design touches give them a unique personality that feels fresh the second you open the door.
The pools are a blast. The sand bottom creates a true beach day vibe, and the cabanas are reasonably priced, unlike most of the Strip. Poolside service is friendly and quick.
Dining is where the property really shines. Kassi Beach House brings great food with a fun social energy. Chef Xue is a must. My wife and I are obsessed with the fried tofu. Go for happy hour Sunday through Thursday from 5 pm to 7 pm for 50% off all drinks and 50% off select appetizers. Brunch at Lucia Mexican Grill is another highlight. The bottomless mimosas are $16.99, and the Asian inspired twists on Mexican dishes are creative and delicious. Late night cravings are covered by Pizza Forte, which is open 24/7. Prices across the property are refreshingly sensible. Coffee is $2, which feels like real hospitality in a city where some places charge $14 or more.
The spa deserves its own shout out. It is beautiful inside with turquoise tile, arched ceilings, and warm amber lighting. There are cozy alcoves for relaxing and a serene pool area that feels like a private retreat. The staff are warm, welcoming, and genuinely kind, which elevates the whole experience.
Cherry Rewards has seen real improvements as well. It is straightforward and useful, and it gives us another reason to return. We did not make it to ONE Steakhouse or Nobu on this visit, but both are on our list for next time.
If you want an easy Las Vegas getaway with cool modern rooms, great food, a gorgeous spa, and prices that make sense, Virgin Las Vegas overdelivers. We are already looking forward to the next stay.

Just checked in and my wife noticed hair all over the floor. Told front desk, no room change but sending someone to clean it. And she actually said she will waive the cost. Like, normally I'm supposed to pay to have a clean hotel room. When we came back up the room was hot and the AC took a while to kick in. Our first night here. Let's see how it goes.
Edit after 1st night. We overlook the pool and it is a nice view of the pool, but there was music playing most of the night keeping my wife up. I thought it was a club, but security said it's just speakers throughout the property. He also said the pool is closed indefinitely, which explains the desolate pool area. I'm still trying to figure out where those EDM like dance beats are coming from.
Over dinner at Lucia's we did discuss my poor rating, and maybe I'm being too harsh. Maybe we are spoiled by our stays at other hotels on the strip including Belagio, Palazzo, Venetian, Wynn, and Waldorf Astoria. Palazzo being our favorite so far. Also, instead of using my wife's Diamond status and reserving through Hilton's website, I needed the 24K points for Southwest CP, so I used Southwest's Rocket Travel by Agoda. I'm guessing I get the low-tier run of the house rooms, no one requests. That's probably why they couldn't move me. I didn't believe the front desk when she said they are completely booked. The property is pretty empty.
Lucia's was ok, but not great. We enjoyed Chef Xue a bit more.
I'll give it one more night to see if we hear the dance club music again.
