⭐️ 1 Star — Bad Experience We stayed at the Best Western in Gallup, NM, and the service was terrible. The lady at breakfast treated us with a bad attitude from the moment we walked in, just because we used a slightly bigger cup filled mostly with ice. She kept approaching us rudely, and when we tried talking to the manager, the manager was just as disrespectful and dismissive. As truck drivers we travel a lot, and this is one of the worst experiences we’ve had. The breakfast was also awful—bad eggs, burnt potatoes, and not worth the price at all. Not recommended at all.

The photos are deceptive. This hotel is dated And the rooms are very small, at least the king size bedroom I had on the first floor. It had 15 foot tall ceilings and was only about 20 feet across very Claustrophobic. The rooms don’t have carpet and they use LED lights that are harsh white instead of soft so everything looks like it’s in a fluorescent store. The parking situation is very strange there’s nothing on one end of the hotel at all there’s only three spots in front everything else is all on the other end of the hotel. Most of the rooms are on the second and third floor because there is weight rooms and Pool on the first floor. Did I mention the rooms were very small and claustrophobic? There’s a lot better value in Gallup New Mexico.

The beds are stiff as wood and somehow dip in so low it feels like you’re sleeping on an air mattress. The sheets are rough and uncomfortable. The rooms are not sound proof at all, you could hear a pin drop in the hallway. There was a random clicking that would happen throughout the night that would wake us up. The bathroom was run down with the bathtub peeling at the bottom. To top it all off we wake up for the breakfast get ready and head down there just to find the attendant has packed up everything half an hour early and yells “breakfast is closed” despite the website saying it runs till 10AM and all the food still being out. Just seems like this place is run and operated by lazy and inattentive workers. The town around this hotel is run down, apparently cars get messed with right across the road by panhandlers at the truck stop- wouldn’t be surprised if your car is unsafe in the hotel parking lot too. If you can skip this town and hotel on your trip do yourself a favor and keep driving.

My husband and son stayed here for the Four Corners Football Tournament. My husband also referred other parents and their children to stay there since we have had great stays in the past with Best Western Hotels. But after this experience at the Gallup, NM Best Western, Best Westerns have lost our business no matter what city or state we travel through! I get a phone call from my husband that the front desk worker (Anesia) accused my husband of breaking the shower faucet in his room. Then she threatened to lock my son in the room and inactivated my husband’s hotel key card. She calls the police to get my husband to pay for the damage that was already there before his stay. What a misuse of 911 services for a trivial matter. A manager never showed up to resolve the issue. Now after looking through other peoples negative reviews I believe them 100%! This place is trash based on the rude, disrespectful and incompetent workers. CORPORATE you should really consider sending a secret shopper and find out for yourself what kind of people you have working for your business in Gallup, NM (west).

Routinely travel cross country with two small (25lbs & 30lbs) hypoallergenic, non-shedding hunting dogs. For current trip, checked “pet policies” on the website of each potential hotel along our route. Selected hotels and double checked “pet policies” in each by telephoning each hotel. Fees? Cover both small dogs or have to pay two “pet fees”? Chose “pet friendly” hotels whose website described their “pet policy” and whose front desk personnel verified one fee, for both dogs, pet exercise area, pet designated rooms. Then pre-paid for each hotel with our credit card’s “Travel Center”. Everything went well until we met manager Audry at the Best Western – West in Gallup, New Mexico. While unloading vehicle, spouse was required to pay two “pet fees” and felt intimidated. When this writer asked for a copy of the “Pet Policy” there was no mention of separate $30.- fees for each small dog. Informed manager that we verified the one fee requirement with her hotel personnel. Whereupon she informed “It’s on our website”. Went to our pre-paid room, connected to the internet, pulled up this hotel’s website and took a screenshot of their website. . . . no mention of separate $30.- fees for each dog. Walked back to front desk with laptop connected to the hotel’s website, asked for a refund of the second $30.- “pet fee” and was told the manager had left and “we cancelled your reservation. . . you have thirty minutes to leave the hotel.” Responded: “We just drove 600 miles, we’re exhausted and we do not intent to abandon our pre-paid reservation”. We were then told “If you don’t leave in the next thirty minutes, we’re calling the cops.” Returned to our room, logged in to our Best Western account and contacted “Customer Services”. . . .no help whatsoever. Twenty minutes later two Gallup, NM police officers knocked on the door of our assigned room. After explaining our predicament and showing them this writer’s credentials as a licensed attorney, the police officers apologized and left. At this point we feared the hospitality staff would further sabotage our stay, secured alternate hotel and left. We have stayed at Best Westerns all over the US and never expected to be abused this way.
