Don’t look for empathy if you have trouble with your booking here! This hotel is unwilling to accommodate in extreme weather conditions when public transit is shut down. Despite a call to the hotel prior to check in to cancel due to advisories from police not to go on roads unless an emergency, the hotel director of sales, later refused to rebook us at another date. While I fully understand we had opted for a non refundable booking, I would think an entity as large as Holiday Inn would think outside the box and accommodate under such an extreme circumstance. There was absolutely no effort to accommodate another booking. All bc of paying a little less bc we prepaid… we got NO customer appreciation. Come on Holiday Inn.. do better!

Beware to those who book to stay at this hotel with a non refundable booking! I paid over $300 for two rooms for February 22, 2026 through Booking.com. The Avalon Peninsula experienced blizzard conditions that day and the RCMP instructed the public to stay off the road. We only live an hour outside of St. John’s and we chose to obey the instructions of the RCMP. We contracted the Holiday Inn Express and I spoke to the manager to tell him that we would not risk our lives and to cancel our reservations. We naturally made the assumption that the hotel would simply rebook us. We didn’t expect nor ask for a refund. Jon Hodder, the Director of Finance and Customer Relations, took days to get back to us and made it crystal clear that he would not rebook us. If you have a non refundable booking and something arises, do not expect Jon Hodder to accommodate you.
