- CCCameron3 days ago1.0This was by far the worst stay I've ever had at a hotel. I got this room the night of Jan 4th as it was a heavy storm that night in St. Johns and I work at the airport so for safety reasons stayed there. At 1130pm the individual in the room above returned to their room. For the 30-45m that they were still awake the noise from them just walking around was insane. Very poorly sound insulated. It was enough to wake me up and keep me awake. I finally got back to sleep and was awoke again at 2am by the fire alar in my room going off as they hadn't changed out the batteries. Over and over it would go "beep beep beep low battery". I had to work at 6am so at this point I just checked out as it was apparent I was going to get any sleep here. I told the story to the worker at the front desk and he said he couldn't do anything for me other then give me a different room. Considering the quality of build and maintenance I had already experienced I passed. He told me a manager would contact me and I've yet to hear from them, 6 days later. If you looking for something close to the airport I suggest trying the Holiday Inn or an Airbnb. Couple side notes: - Pool and gym area is nice. - Lobby is tastefully appointed. - Started snowing at approx 9pm, when I left at 2:15am the parking lot had not been touched. Snow was up over my ankles. - I order from their restuarant from time to time when The Rock is closed. The food is average at best for the price. You can get WAY better food next door at the Rock for the price that they charge.
