I've been staying here for over a month and have another month to go. My overall experience has been good, but my time in customer service in the past taught me that people only remember the bad and this is not a great situation. 3 days ago, I got covid while at work. When I woke up the next morning and realized I had it, I decided to stay in my room so that I wouldn't expose it to the rest of the guests and staff. I called the front desk to let them know and asked if they could let Doordash drivers in to leave my orders at my door. The hotel has a policy in place to protect guests from random people, but doordash drivers are constantly tracked, so they should hopefully not cause problems. The front desk attendant was very helpful and even sent up extra tissues and TP. Side note: I've had multiple Doordash deliveries to my door throughout my stay, so I don't know why it's a problem all of a sudden. Fast forward to this morning. I ordered breakfast from doordash and the driver was stopped at the front and told he could not enter. The current front desk operator called my room to tell me that the food was downstairs. I told him about the situation and he replied with the hotel policy that seems to be at individual discretion. I repeated that I had covid and did not want to get anyone sick. He again replied with the policy. I then calmly came up with solutions. I asked if a hotel staff member could bring my food up and he said that if I have covid, he doesn't want someone else to deliver it and get covid. I replied that I didn't even want someone to hand it to me. I just wanted it dropped off at my door. Completely contactless. He flatly replied that my food was downstairs and refused to help. I have called customer service and filed a complaint. Unfortunately, I still have not eaten breakfast because the current front desk operator is on some kind of power trip and is refusing to help. Horrible customer service by one employee has turned a decent work trip into a very frustrating situation, to the point where I am considering switching hotel chains. I am currently a platinum elite member with IHG. I only mention this to show my current loyalty to this hotel chain. Very unhappy with IHG, right now.
Edit: I checked my door out of curiosity and found my food there. There was no knock or indication that it had been delivered, but it was delivered for me eventually. I appreciate that it was done, but am still frustrated that this situation happened in the first place. Increasing the service from 1 star to 3 star.
