Had a very terrible experience at this Holiday Inn. I’m a physician and I was here for business and for some light touristy activities for 5 days. On the first day the Shuttle driver never came up to the curb and simply passed me while he was on his phone as I was standing at the “P3 spot” which was where I was supposed to be standing. They say the shuttles are every 30 minutes which is not the case as I saw many other shuttles pass multiple times before the holiday inn international shuttle passed by. Because of this situation I was an hour late to see my ill patients virtually which forced them to be rescheduled. I did call the front office when I was at the stop and they told me he was already there when I told them he had passed me while on his phone. Keep in mind I made well over 5 calls to holiday inn staff during this trip. I would not recommend this place to any professionals but maybe some people staying for just one night. I was sent by my physician’s group for this trip and will be telling my partners to avoid this hotel when they come back to Newark. I had to repeatedly call the front desk, tell the manager and even tell housekeeping in the morning that I would like my room cleaned. My room was cleaned for only one day out of the five. I could tell that no one had vacuumed and only the bed was made on that one day. On one of the days I told three different people that I needed housekeeping the next day and still no one showed up; manager, night front desk and housekeeper on the floor. When I voiced my concern on the phone I could tell the unapologetic young lady at the front desk clearly just did not care and told me that my room was on the list. I just needed basic things like my room cleaned and vacuumed, fresh towels, and a shuttle that would come to the correct location. I paid a lot of money staying for 5 days hoping that my needs would be met. For the money I spent I was hoping to work and relax, however I spent most of my time trying to get hotel staff to do their job. When I pay for a service I expect to get what was advertised in return. I worked in the service industry when I was younger and learned that going the extra mile or even just a hello/smile can go a long way for a customer. So again, if you’re a professional please avoid this hotel at all costs and I suggest trying the double tree or Marriot. I will leave 2 stars because the manager Benjamin was very nice but the rest of his staff could really care less about their job. I would also make sure that they give your deposit back as I will be watching my bank account closely the next several weeks.

I recently stayed at the holiday inn Newark location for my new year holiday vacation and I wasn’t satisfied with the initial room I was given and the very next morning I was greeted by the manager Benjamin who asked how was my stay so far I expressed my concerns about the room and he immediately showed concern and upgrade my room which completely changed my perspective of the hotel and the service being I am a Hilton honors girl who only stays at a Hilton hotel I can honestly say that I will be visiting again the professionalism and genuine hospitality that Benjamin displayed was outstanding and he absolutely deserves a raise his warmth and radiant smile made me feel welcome and appreciated thank you!

Terrible Customer Service & Complete Miscommunication
I had a confirmed booking for 1 January 2026. Before my stay, I emailed the hotel asking to store luggage and received no written response. I then called twice and was clearly told by hotel staff that luggage storage was allowed and that I could come at any time.
Relying on this, I traveled late at night from Times Square to the hotel (25 Dec, ~11:45 pm) only to be told by the on-duty supervisor that luggage storage was not allowed at all.
Shockingly, the supervisor checked my email only after I arrived and sent a denial at that moment, which felt like an attempt to justify the refusal rather than own the hotel’s mistake. The supervisor was rude, dismissive, showed no empathy, and offered no apology or solution.
I escalated this to Holiday Inn leadership and received no response.
For an IHG hotel, this lack of professionalism and accountability is unacceptable. I would not recommend this property.

Room size, checkin process and staff in the restaurant were good. The lifts/ elevators are poor & unreliable. Toilet clean but shower in bathtub struggled with hot water volume. Breakfast in the restaurant is very poor and Holiday Inn needs to look into their own breakfast menu in EU, Aus,Asia as well other chains like Hilton. Checkin time is 4 pm and check out at 11 am- they need 5 hours for cleaning. I had 4 knocks on my door to remind me checkout 10 am, 1020 am, 1030, 1045 am- as if they wanted to drive me out in particular a lady in red jacket Jacquelline from house keeping. I complained at reception and fine gentleman Benjamin apologised. However I do not recommend this hotel for a stay.
