We barely had time to take our coats off check-in was that quick, and the staff were confidently professional while still genuinely warm. The whole stay felt frictionless: clean, calm, and easy in all the ways that matter. Breakfast was a morning win, and the quiet street outside meant we slept straight through with zero noise. For this price, the comfort and service felt like a rare find I’d book again without hesitation.

I’m giving this stay 4 stars overall as the property itself met my needs. The rooms were standard and clean for a typical 3-star experience. While the service was a bit more basic than expected and the location wasn't ideal for my specific travel plans, the quality of the hotel itself made for a solid stay.

I am writing to document an extremely upsetting experience my family had at the Holiday Inn Express Holland Tunnel and to request this matter be escalated to corporate management. While I was in the emergency room at Jersey Medical Center due to a medical emergency, my 10-year-old child knocked on another guest’s door. No one contacted us that night about any problem. The following evening, while my family was out at dinner at Junior’s in Times Square, Leo, the Assistant General Manager, called and stated that our entire family had to leave the hotel immediately because of that incident. We explained we were nearly an hour away and asked for reasonable time and consideration, but he refused to work with us. He advised we were locked out and if we didn’t get there he would remove our things. When we returned around 11:00 PM, we were locked out and told to gather our belongings and leave right away. I explained I had just experienced a medical emergency and that children were involved, yet Leo responded sarcastically and stated he was not sorry about my medical emergency after sarcastically exchanging words with my husband. This comment about my medical emergency upset my husband greatly cause him to become very upset prior to leaving the property. No refund, no accommodation, and no assistance were offered despite us spending over $1,000 on two rooms. We were simply put out. He kept making the comment that we booked through a third party. Our family, including children, was forced to stand outside in snowy winter conditions with luggage until nearly 1:00 AM waiting for transportation large enough to accommodate us. Our hands and feet were painfully cold. I ask that corporate review the camera footage showing my family outside in the cold after being removed late at night and my pleas for grace at the front desk. Additionally, the situation was described to us as a guest feeling “threatened” by a 10-year-old knocking on a door, and the handling of this situation raises serious concerns for me about discriminatory assumptions and treatment based on race. The labeling of a child in this manner and the immediate removal of our family without warning or reasonable resolution was deeply troubling.
When I asked for the General Manager’s information or corporate contact details, Leo refused to provide them. His behavior showed a complete lack of empathy, professionalism, and concern for the safety of children. I do want to sincerely thank the two front desk employees who showed compassion and kindness during this situation. They were the only people who treated us with dignity. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone with a family while Leo remains employed in a management position.
UPDATE 2/17/26
In response to Danny S.:
Danny,
The night this occurred I asked staff for your contact information and for corporate contact information and was refused. You did not reach out to me directly, yet you chose to respond publicly on Google and insinuate how my husband reacted without acknowledging the Assistant Manager’s lack of concern regarding my medical emergency that led to that reaction.
This only reinforces my concern that the matter was not handled appropriately when it happened. I will not go back and forth on Google reviews and will be proceeding through the appropriate channels above the property level.
As a paying guest, I am deeply disappointed and saddened by how this was handled by management. For future guest there are several other hotels that you can spend your money with. If reviews mean anything to you. Please skip this one!

When arriving, valet was kind and helpful and attentive. 42$ a night plus tax to park and not guarenteed if you venture out and come back is wild considering you paid for your stay. The room was spacious and house keeping was prompt. However the towels were ripped, both bath towels, and there was no creamer in the coffee area only sugar. It was pretty loud when trying to sleep from the cars outside. The cable is outdated.. not a smart tv or streaming service offered. The included breakfast was delicious.
