We booked this hotel with our family so that we could enjoy a Christmas weekend in NYC. Unfortunately, due to sickness in the family, we were unable to make the trip, and had to cancel. We cancelled a day or two in advance as soon as we were made aware of the illness. Cancelling went off without a hitch, however, a refund was flatly denied ("We always deny any third party booking's request for a refund"). I explained that we had the doctor's note, heck, they could see that the rest of the family had to cancel their booking for the same reason. This was all to no avail.
I completely understand that cancelling is not ideal, and certainly not something that we planned to do. However, with lead time and a doctor's note, I would expect a hotel with the reputation of Crowne Plaza to understand that this happens, especially as flu cases are at some of the highest levels in recent memory.

Michelle at the Crowne Plaza in Edison, New Jersey is hands down the best server we have ever interacted with—and that is not an exaggeration. From the moment we sat down, she was warm, respectful, attentive, and genuinely cared about making our experience special.
Her professionalism and positive attitude truly stood out. She went above and beyond in every way and completely made our night. Service like this is rare, and Michelle is an absolute bright star for this hotel.
If management is reading this: Michelle is a huge asset to your team. We will absolutely be returning because of her.

My name is Giridhara Srinivas. I stayed at this hotel from 12/24 - 12/27. I chose this hotel because it was convenient to all locations. Below are the things I did not like during my stay
1) Room service - your rule is that if I place a door tag, then only room service will be provided. How will the customer know about your rules? Are they posted on your website? Or not. If yes, who will read those rules during booking
2)Breakfast- you are charging the room with breakfast. Please explain how we should think. Are breakfast tokens provided for all guests staying? Or when I booked a room for four guests (3 adults and one kid), I received breakfast tokens for only 2 adults.
3) Room booking- we did not understand why you are charging $45 fee for an additional member. If the room has two queen beds, our understanding is that it will accommodate four people.
When I called the front desk lady to check on $45 charge, I did not get a polite answer from her. When I asked her, she replied that her tone was like that over the phone.
Based on this, I never recommend this hotel to anyone.

I am leaving a 1-star review not because of the hotel staff’s service, but because I want the hotel management to see this.
I booked this hotel for 30 days for a business trip. I do not smoke at all. However, cigarette smoke from another room (I’m not sure which one) continuously enters my room through the bathroom ventilation system and fills the entire my room.
I am not from the United States, so I may not fully understand how the ventilation system here works, but when I checked the bathroom vent, air was coming out instead of being pulled in.
As I am writing this review, I can still smell cigarette smoke in my room.

Overall, this hotel was not terrible, but it was not worth the price and fell short of what we expect from the Crowne Plaza brand.
The lobby was clean, well organized, and beautifully decorated for Christmas. Check-in was quick and easy, though the staff member assisting us appeared overwhelmed by multiple guest requests at the same time. As Platinum members, we were not offered a complimentary upgrade.
The room itself needed maintenance. One of the curtain rods was broken, making it difficult to fully close the shade. The bathroom sink was missing part of the drain assembly. We also found a used toothpick on the floor near the bed, which raised concerns about the overall cleanliness of the room.
After my wife left a three-star rating, a manager contacted her and asked how the rating could be improved. She specifically mentioned the mold on the shower walls. Housekeeping came to the room, but only performed a routine cleaning, and the mold issue was not addressed. Photos of the mold were taken after housekeeping had finished.
The Wi-Fi was extremely slow and unstable to the point of being nearly unusable. We had to rely on our phone hotspots to connect our laptops and tablets.
We typically stay at Crowne Plaza hotels and have always had good experiences, which made this stay particularly disappointing. We will continue using the brand, but hope this was an exception rather than the norm.
