  The location was great, it was my second stay... first stay was great but this time we couldn't even shower as the doors to the shower wouldn't move. We tried calling the front desk but got no answer and then waited over 10mins to check out and inform them that we couldn't access the shower but nobody came back to the desk.

  Rooms are outdated. They say one thing on the phone and when you arrive it’s different. Staff are not very courteous. No one in charge to resolve customer issues. Very disappointed. Oh, the pool good but not worth the stay.

  There is tremendous variation in the type/quality of rooms. An older hotel that's been extended at the rear, possibly several times. It's very accessible from the interstate 95 which is a plus, and it has a fair amount of parking. I was assigned a 'renovated' room for two nights and it was really ok, with new bathroom, a microwave and fridge. But I couldn't find a room safe which is an 'essential' to me. Aside from the renovated rooms, most of the rest of the hotel looks aged and some of it resembles stacked/outside "motel layout". The indoor swimming pool looked nice although a bit small for the number of rooms, and the fitness room was ok but the weights were limited and somewhat rusted. TV channels are pretty good. A bonus is the traditional diner next door, which doesn't seem affiliated, but has great food options from breakfast to diner. The hotel staff were all very nice and helpful. If you pay $85-$100 it's ok, otherwise there are newer options very nearby, like Holiday Inn.

  For the price we paid, it was a great spot. It definitely has some age to the building, but the whole hotel and our room were spotless, and well stocked with amenities. Staff were friendly and available at all hours. Very centrally located to several local attractions and downtown Portsmouth. The proximity to a local favorite diner was a big win, didn't even have to exit the building! We thoroughly enjoyed the pool as well. There was a mixup on my end, and I booked more days than I intended to, and the management was very understanding and easy to work with.
