- MKMegan KubiszewskiJan 5, 20265.0Beautiful hotel with very nice rooms. We chose it because we wanted a separate sleeping area from our kids, and it worked great as they had plenty of room. The pool was a bit on the cold side, but the kids had fun anyways.

Room is always great and usually everything about the stay is great. Sadly this time we had issue with an employee on Christmas about borrowing one chair for our elderly Grandpa that was coming over for supper. Hubby eventually got the chair but the fact it was such an issue is sad. Other issue was we had to leave 1 day early due to the winter storm coming in. Hotel refused to update our reservation to not pay for the extra day. The customer service people said that the hotel itself is the only one that can fix it. Candelwood says they cannot change the reservation dates because we “advanced” paid, meaning we paid ahead of time for the room. I am shocked the hotel would purposely take money from guests who are not staying. Especially knowing that winter blizzard was coming in. I’m extremely sad about this and will have to figure out if we should return or stay at Suburban Studios instead.

But what really inspired me to write the review was an employee named Kayla. I had a headache from travel and was sitting in the lobby drinking coffee so I wouldn’t wake my wife. I overheard Kayla welcoming a steady stream of guests at midnight. Having been in my own business I learned how to retain customers and taught it to employees. Make them feel happy to be here is the start to a long term relationship. Each customer Kayla did that with a smile that was genuine. It all starts at that front desk. Way to go Kayla and Candlewood Suites!
