With 4.5 rating at the time I write this, I struggle with why I had a lower than expected experience.
Overall the facility was nice, but had some issues to where I am not sure I would stay here again.
1) Check in was simple - as diamond elite - usually provided more - but no big deal.
2) Get into room and first thing I saw was the comforter was a little dirty, so pulled back to the bed sheets and saw hair throughout the bed and some pillows had stains.
3) Breakfast was worst that I have had in a long time. I had apple juice - that was all that was appealing. Fruit was rotten, cereal was stale, muffins were hard and dry, pancake machine was not operational, cinnamon rolls were not available, and the other people in the room warned me not to get the eggs and meat as they were cold and tasted weird.
4) Shower pressure was really nice - enjoyed that, however, when going to grab a towel all but one had these long dirt stains along the edge as if all of the towels were rubbed against something very dirty.
Sorry for the critical post, as I have always had luck at HIE&S, but this had to be the worst experience for me at a HIE&S.

Loved my stay here! Everything made sense with the layout of the rooms, pool/hot tubs, & gym. The location is also amazing. Everyone was very friendly. The environment was very clean. The breakfast was delicious. I stayed for 15 days. Highly recommend a stay here.

Its like all Holiday Inn Express locations now days. Rooms are just ok, common areas are showing their age, and the breakfast needs a facelift. The pricing at Holiday Inn Express has continued to rise and quality is failing.

The stay at the Holiday Inn express at Grand Forks was by far the worst experience I’ve ever had at a hotel. I have never been treated with such disrespect and lack of customer service ever. The nighttime front desk staff was absolutely horrendous and completely lacked professionalism. Her demeanour towards guest was atrocious, and her dress code looked like she just rolled out of bed. Her blatant disrespect for the guest and their children was appalling. The hotel itself was one of the noises hotels I’ve ever stayed in in my entire life. The constant banging and stomping at all hours Made it extremely hard to relax and enjoy our stay.
The housekeeping lacklustre as well. Our bed was not made. The clean towels were thrown into the bathroom. The bathroom was not clean from the prior guest. What looked like vomit was around the toilet and on the shower door. Disgusting would be putting it lightly.
I would never recommend this hotel to anybody. The lack of cleanliness in the bathroom was one thing, but the night staff was the worst I’ve ever seen. Her rudeness, lack of professionalism, and her general immature tone should not be how you want to represent your hotel.
The stay was extremely unfortunate. Ive stayed at Holiday Inn expresses before and always had a great experience.
