Had a poor experience with whoever answers their phones (guessing they outsource) I couldn’t understand her as her phone system was echoing and she spoke with a very heavy accent. I had a family emergency and asked to cancel the reservation day of. I’m aware it was a slim shot but I thought it was worth a phone call as it was a 3 night stay and the situation that presented itself.I wasn’t able to catch her name but her response was short and unsympathetic. “no you cannot cancel.” I have stayed at that hotel several nights a year in the past but I never will again based off of this interaction.

I booked the reservation for 1 night because we needed a place to sleep after driving 12 hours. I saw the pictures online and was excited to see it was actually a best western. When we arrived it was very clear that the pictures do no match reality. I booked a double room, believing it was 2 queen beds; however, it was actually 2 double size beds. That is not something I have ever seen before. The hotel is outdated and smells musty. The girl at checking in, did not seem to like being there at all and did not have a name badge or anything. She did not confirm stay information (cost or incidental amount), did not talk about amenities (never saw any signs for pool and/or breakfast hours either). I stated in the reservation notes and at checkin that the card would need to be changed and she told me "no", that I would "have to do it at checkout". Which I knew was not true. She only did it after the first card did not go through. There was a loud Christmas party next to the lobby that could be heard from all the pool side rooms, mine included. I went to the desk to get another pillow because the room didn't come with enough for the 3 of us. I asked her, how long the party was going to go for, and she said "I don't know, I'm not throwing it" while she was walking away. Also, the plumbing is really loud and there is barely any water pressure. I was very disappointed that quality of the Best Western brand is not implemented at this hotel. Luckily, we only needed to stay here 1 night. It's 10:40pm right now and the Christmas party downstairs is still loud and the bass is coming through the walls. Breakfast was disappointing, but they offered the basics. Same girl checked us out with the same level of disconnect.

My family had 3 rooms rented at the Roosevelt Grand this weekend. We planned on letting kids swim and having pizza and cupcakes for a birthday. We put up one Happy Birthday Banner on the pool fence. No extravagant decorations. There was no one else in the pool area at all. The front desk told us no parties and then put up a sign that stated ‘no parties in the pool area’. We have had birthday get togethers here before. She told us we could eat outside the pool fence but needed to take down our banner. So we did. Then she came back and said we were getting charged $500 to have a party per her manager as it was a new policy. We were just visiting and kids were swimming- we were not being obnoxious-it was 4pm. Had we not put up one birthday banner they wouldn’t have even known it was a party. We asked to talk to the manager—who then called my husband on his cell phone. He had a Seattle number. We just had pizza delivered and he said you better not eat or you’ll be charged $1000 as that’s the new pool party rate. Or he told us we could rent the ballroom for $1000 if we wanted to eat pizza. We asked him to work with us and were willing to pay a reasonable fee of $100-200 to use the 3 tables and swim ( again we didn’t have the pool area blocked off and were not deterring people from swimming). He said he could compromise at $800. So we packed up our stuff and had to eat pizza in the hotel rooms. We always recommended this hotel to friends, families and coworkers and will no longer be doing so. Very upset with how this whole situation was handled :(

I absolutely loved this place. Big hotel with all kinds of cozy rustic sitting areas. Very nice bar/restaurant area with pool tables. My daughter and I had fun playing pool. Loved the full breakfast and the eating area was beautiful like a nice restaurant with different little rooms and levels for privacy and pretty chandeliers. Definitely not like a lot of hotels that have just one room with harsh florescent lighting and hard tables and chairs to sit on. Was cozy and relaxing with booths and regular tables. I ran into a couple kitchen staff who were cleaning up and very nice pleasant folks. Our room was wonderful, very large and beds very comfy. We didn't need room service so not sure about how housekeeping is. I will probably never be in North Dakota again by if I am I would definitely stay here again.
